Do you mean they might not know what they are doing. Say it isn't so.

This would be a great time to come aboard. Get on as a super junior 76 Captn or F/O for the Asia domicile, then when the company cannot get the domicile approved........ bingo you are now 76 Captn or F/O in ILN. Wonder how they will solve that grievance problem.
They would be furloughed from the closed domicile with bumping rights to an existing domicile.

Nice prospects. Hired to be furloughed almost immediately.

Frankly, if I were under 40, I would have paper on the street. As it is I'm a short timer and have no incentive to leave. In fact, there is considerable disincentive. If I were offered the chance to leave now with no early out penalties I would be gone tomorrow.

We wont ponder being understaffed for peak until about December 5th, maybe the 4th if someone in management is bucking for a kudos from his boss.....

ultra hope to get you on property ASAP. I am getting tired of flying more than 2 times in a block of reserve. If I wanted to fly I would bid a line.....(ha ha)
We ran out of 767 crews a couple of nights ago. Pulled a guy off of an already assigned emergency call out for a future date to cover the flight. We're adequately staffed though. Just ask management. Astar has no worries. We don't really have enough crews to cover our own flights without regular emergency callout. What a joke.

let me get this straight. you have not been called once since your furlough? i don't mean to be insensitive or probing but that is not the word on the "streets of iln".
it has been quoted by flight management/chief pilots just last week, in 'bottoms up meetings' that all furloughees have been contacted and offered the opportunity to return. you are telling us readers that is not true. sorry to sound incredulous because i know that flight management is not truthful, but this is a fact that can be quickly investigated and disputed.
i echo everyone's sentiments, i wish you a speedy return to iln, if that is your desire and goal. these are certainly contentious times between management and the union, as well as between unions (abx and astar), at iln.
when you get here, keep your head down. a lot of shrapnel and debris.
I have gotten calls from guys saying are you coming back??? I heard they called all furloughed guys. I dont care who said what....here is the cold hard truth as of 9/21/07 @ 04:17cdt. (couldnt sleep...practicing for recall I guess)
Three years ago I was called and given a conditional recall for the 8 s/o slots...in the event they needed me....they called put on property everybody senior to me...so I wait.....I have been the next to recall for 3 years.....this week I was called and given a chance to go to KIX if they couldnt fill the proffer, or back fill for ILN if the need arises....its still only a conditional recall with no official proffer for ILN....so I wait...still! I told them I would accept a recall for ILN but not KIX. Sounds crazy for a guy who has been whinning on this forum for a while about being on furlough, but the truth is if I accepted the KIX proffer and did my two year commitment and then tried to bid back to ILN I would not be senior enough to hold ILN on the 76, so I would be eating raw fish for quite some time!!! Plus I'm not sure I could afford a divorce lawyer and my boat at the same time. The fact is I have returned a letter to the company accepting a conditional recall only, and thats all that was offered. When I come back I will be the one in the corner with my mouth shut and ears open and safety glasses on! (for some reason I tend to get debris in my eyes alot)
Thanks for the support.

so what gives???? you cant make the shareholders happy if you dont make money. Management cant be that blind can they??? Are we about to be slapped (blindsided) with something huge??? (bad) it seems they are shooting themselves in the foot...I was told tue by a asst chief pilot that DHL wanted us to cut staffing even more! Does DHL really tell us how many pilots to have on property?

Yep. Now look at it from DHL's perspective. We fly x amount of airplanes for them in the US. If we have enough pilots and support staff left over to man two other domiciles(That they are paying for) we have too many folks in their view. What they don't seem to be able to remember is that they still want us to man enough reserves to cover all the contingencies. Like last night when we sent our DC-8 to YYZ to cover someone else cause the weather was then bad or going to be that way. Can you say CAT II?

Default KIX proffer is closed....

well, the abx air proffer for the KIX domicile closed yesterday and 16 b767 first officer positions went unfilled. therefore, the company will ask furloughees to come back and then go to osaka, japan. if there are not sufficient positive responses from those individuals the company will place new hires in osaka. the company has stated it will hire at least 25 people beginning in january, 2008. they intend on opening the osaka domicile 31 days before that, in the middle of the holiday rush. that will be interesting to watch, while their largest customer expects 100% participation in wilmington, oh.
there is no moral to this posting, just providing facts for potential applicants.

i think that people not qualified for government jobs must go to the airlines, in management, for employment.

anybody still have the number for acme trucking driving school?

All Captain spots bid, no F/O spots were awarded.

Default 767pilot asked...i'll try to answer...

there were 32 proffers posted by abx air management, 16 captains/16 first officers. the 16 captains were 'filled' by: 2 b767 captains, 6 b767 first officers, 1 dc8 fo, the rest dc9 fos. i'm sure that all of these guys were captains in their previous 'lives' before abx air. however, that said, there will be 14 new b767 captains flying with 16 new b767 first officers, at an international domicile. this will be better than reality tv or american idol.
(several of the guys are my friends, i wish them luck despite the union/management controversy (sp) about no international domicile language in cba.)

yeehaw!
