I thought that 1224 had put the kibosh to that plan. What changed your minds?

Have you never met our management team. They will not let a little thing like a contract or the RLA interfere with their well thought out corporate plans to grow our airline for the shareholders, just ask them........

so what exactly is the LOA for Japan? Also if this is true would the ABX pilots have a problem with the newhire class?

There is no LOA for Japan.

They have agreed to a substantial set of rules which would allow the KIX operations to be flown from the ILN domicile but that's all part of the ongoing contract negotiations. The company doesn't want to wait so they say they are going to open a KIX domicile on December 1st. Our current contract requires that they negotiate the terms for any foriegn domicile and we have served the appropriate Section 6 opener paperwork.

The company believes that they may open the domicile while negotiations are taking place, we disagree. Our e-board is not opposed to a KIX domicile in principle, they just want a wide variety of issues worked out before such a domicile opens.

The initial terms, as announced by the company, for the KIX domicile are quite inadequate. Under their terms, a pilot bidding KIX would see a significant loss of buying power due to the cost of living in Osaka and related expenses that they would occur.

They have posted proffers for 16 767 KIX crews and have said that any insufficient positions would be offered to the (18) furloughees and then to new hires.

I wouldn't be surprised to see things change a few times before any KIX domicile actually opens.

There is a proffer that just came out for 16 capt's and 16 F.O.'s for the Osaka domicile. And no, ABX pilots wouldn't have a problem with people being hired into this domicile. You of course would be in our union and we all would have turned down the job. My guess is there will be a couple of current captains taking the job and maybe 8 to 10 F.O.'s upgrade to captain. Probably all the F.O. slots would come off the street. I am an F.O. currently working in Osaka and seriously considering the upgrade.

I think ABX management is trying to cram this domicile down our throat so it remains to be seen if we can work something out by Dec 1. Keep in mind ABX has had years to come to an agreement with our union on a foreign domicile. I would give it a 25% chance of it working out like our mangement want's. Just my 2 cents worth.

ABX is rumored to attend the job fair in washington. Heres a can of worms for ya. I asked the question to a asst chief pilot "if I pass on kix (and I did) if we had another furlough would those guys go first" and he response was not necessarly! (chirp...chirp...chirp....Bueller....anyone.....Bu eller) That dog wont hunt will it?

Ultra,

Talk to 1224 about this issue instead of the company. You'll never get the straight facts from this management team!
