Centurion operates five DC10's and another (ex Cielos) is in C-check and should be on line soon. Yes, there are guys on furlough but in todays airline economics either your furloughed or might be next.
What about the MTA DC-10's, It looks like they have a couple, they seem to be related somehow?

I'll correct you tjsatter......

The Centurion certificate has been around since 1985 under the name Challenge Cargo. "You may not be old enough to know that". Between 1995 and 1996 while Gemini was only a small freight forwarder (not even an airlline yet) Challenge flew their freight under a wet lease agreement. It was not until mid 1996 when Gemini received their first aircraft. Challenge was renamed Centurion in 1999 under new ownership.

Centurion, Cielos and MTA are all and managed under Alliance Management Group (AMC). The sole owner of the the three also has a minority business interest (money) in TAB airlines (Bolivian company) which we see at MIA. Total number of DC10's operated under AMC is Thirteen. The aircraft are all owned not leased.

Centurion went through a rough time in 2005 which is where the bad publicity comes from when "Gemini management" arrived on site to show Centurion how to run an airline. They let those idiots play for a year and finally gave them a send-off with their mere 9 years of airline experience.

Overall not a bad place to work. They are a small tight group and almost imposibble to get hired unless you know someone. I see their profile has not been updated. I can tell you from friends that fly there the new payscale is higher than Gemini.

As far as a match........ I think they are waiting for the fire sale at Gemini for two MD's. Two filings in 12 years / no assets...........Who's the Shiite-Hole?

sorry but this could be quite an explanation, but briefly what happened when UPS ended up with the 757's from Challenge? didn't they get the Certificate also, routes or what, not to upset anybody, just curious how that played in relation to current Centurion and Gemini.

brushing up on my Freightdog history.

UPS wanted the lucrative scheduled flying routes that belonged to Challenge. The government does not allow two 121 carriers to compete on the same route. UPS purchased the entire company and took what they need (cargo facility in MIA, BOG, QIT, GYE and a few more) The blue ribbon of the purchase was the rights to the routes. The owner kept the certificate and signed a 3 year no compete clause. The 757's went back to the bank. After 3 years was up he started up again with DC10's flying as a 121 non-sched and named it Centurion.

Is that international/cargo only? Don't UPS/FedEx serve the same places out of ANC?

I heard Centurion has put a bid in for Gemini, but so have many other companies.

Yes, you are correct. Remember the UPS/Challenge deal was back in the mid 90's. DOT laws have come a way since then. For the past few years UPS and FedEx have been competing for routes to Asia. They each received DOT approval to fly Anchorage to Shanghai but not at the same frequency. DOT approves four weekly flights for UPS and only two for Fed Ex. (just an example). American wants to fly to Asia from ORD. DOT rejects the app because United flies that route so American makes a code share agreement with China Eastern Airlines and gets in the back door..........Clear as Mud.
