Unfortunately, turning 65 in 2010 does NOT necessarily equal retirement ---- especially for this particular cohort turning 65.

Here's another fly in the ointment. Change in the manning model.

Reserves are trending toward a lower percentage of flying lines. Look at our MD11 for a glimpse of the future. The 727 is currently much closer to the old reserve manning model percentages.

Why am I being vague when ALPA has e-mailed us actual percentages? For the same reason we have a 'shortage' of 727 FOs sometimes. 727 crews sit reserve for other airframes. We get extra pairings in the 727 if a 757 or Airbus can't move the freight it was scheduled to move.

...or just extra legs (on designated sweep flights of course).
