Actually I had turkey in BQN on a regular line trip. You can not blame anyone but yourself when you screw up bidding the #1 spot. No, I did not do it for the $25 "no catering" expense. My son's airline finished with him about noon, so he had turkey at home. I'll keep his seat warm for a while, but not at the panel. Someday 4A2b will be over, the hiring will start again, he will get hired and everyone will move up one number. I hope it is soon, and in that order.

Happy Holidays

Rumors are rampant but here is what you need to see to anticipate a newhire class and an open application window.

1) A sizable vacancy bid, about 150 moves, announcement would precede final planning for a newhire class. A vacancy bid that allows some SOs to move. These are announced 30 days before they take effect.

2) An announcement that we are exiting from 4a2b is required. Our line averages would have to be close normal or bought up in the 727. The MD-11 and Airbus are rising now but may stagnate for some time after December. This may take a long time after all other bid packs are no longer in 4a2b reduction.

3) The improvement in line averages that would cause the 1) may be accelerated by our move to flag ops or new FAA rest rules. I'm hearing flag ops has been pushed back to March or later. Rest rules will more than likely be announced well in advance of adoption. I'm not counting on either of these to do anything soon. The economy may recover before then.

IMHO, these events offer at least 30 days lead time, +/- 60 days or so.

Must have hit a sore spot. Maybe a little deeply hidden regret or guilt.

exactly my point.

everyone (especially those hopeful Purple Poolies out there) should take note of how this guy "hopes" the sequence of events plays out.

(hopes he can stay on - but ONLY in a front left seat - until AFTER his son gets hired)

NICE!

hopefully, not a majority of the guys at the top of the list think like this guy.....actually I'm not even that hopeful......

Is this a surprise? He should have retired years ago...

Well, considering that you bid Nov line 1073 and conflicted trip 26 (57+21) with your 8 days of c/o from Oct, you must have specifically requested your Thanksgiving BQN trip by trip number, either in the Make Up window as CIA or later as some other code, DFT maybe??

If I had a son in the pool and could have fully retired yrs ago, I probably wouldn't be allowed home for Thanksgiving either!
