The guy who wrote the letters did mention in the last email:

"(not to mention the fact you could just as easily say “I told YOU so!” to me, since I ended up bidding HKG)" So I think he knows there are some flaws in his argument, though probably less than the MECs.

With his senority, the only widebody FO slots he could have held are MEM 300 @ about 90% and ANC 11 @ about 60%.

I am curious why no one answered his last question about going from bidding 90% in a 3rd world FDA with NO Expat package to bidding #3 in a first world FDA that is supposed to be such a great place to live (Jim Story) and comes complete with an "Enhanced" ex-pat package and housing allowance, and that was supposed to "go senior" as stated by our MEC.

I just heard too many times @ first the Enhanced LOA Option was a good deal, and then later it was not really a good deal but still an OK deal that was certainly better than nothing (like SFS has) and the company would have no problem filling it and it would go senior. None of this turned out to be true. I also heard numerous times "Take this deal now and we will definitely work on improving it next time around." How true do you think that statement was in light of recent events?

It just makes me think that the MEC really doesn't know s h i t.

IMHO, you fight the fight, then if you lose, you just make the best of what you have to work with after the fight's over. Everyone has their own reasons for bidding as they do. Gotta give him credit for at least trying to do something about the LOA before the bid closed.

I second that.

Moreover, how is bidding HKG (given the POS LOA) helping the rest of the crew force who chose overwhelmingly NOT to bid the FDA's becasue they are POS?

More lack of unity in a crew force divided by the very leadership [sic] elected to represent them! And this guy played right along! Makes his arguments to DW rather hollow, don't you think?
I believe the LOA was endorsed by over 90% of the MEC (only 1 dissenting opinion and that was quickly dismissed) and voted in favor by a majority of our crew force. How can it be a POS? WE DID IT TO OURSELVES UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF THE MEC. Don't blame the company, don't blame the junior guys who bid it. Blame the MEC for misleading us, and blame the 68% of the membership who voted YES. The "rest of the crew force" voted yes to the LOA. How is the "rest of the crew force" helping ourselves?

Default What?

PS Before you find yourself in trouble, you might want to consult a labor attorney about what constitutes illegal concerted activity.

Can someone please explain what DW was referring to in this statement? What is "illegal concerted activity". And was DW making a threat towards him? I just want to make sure I'm not involved in this type of illegal concerted activity.

Maybe he was referring to the concerted effort of the Subic pilots to not pick up trips out of open time or accept draft trips during contract negotiations. SInce our Union is in love with the Company now, maybe he was trying to convince the rabble rousers in SFS to play nice so he wouldn't have to explain why our pilots weren't playing nice with the company.

I am not taking sides, but...

I don't read DW's words that way. Union members can't organize, hint or even support such an operation. The company will sue if they do. If the members decide to do it on their own, that is another thing. But it has to be each individual acting as an individual.

We can't act in "concert" by coming up with a plan and executing it together. At least not in the way that is defined as illegal.

If the Union doesn't officially or unofficially sanction this type of work action, it's none of DWs business. Why would he be warning/threatening a group of pilots for simply abiding by the contract? 100% and not a fraction more???

I believe APA was fined $45,000,000.00 for such actions. DALPA pilots also had similar problems. You may be able to afford it, but others may have some concerns.
