That is the problem. Even when we had FPA we had the same leadership at the MEC. At least with FPA our MEC couldn't have their sights set on national office.
With the way our contract is being sodimized, the LOA, and age 65, I think we would have been better off with FPA, at least our MEC would have been working for us, not national

Oh yeah, and don't forget all those high-powered costing models we have access to. That sure seems to be helping so far.

Be carefull what you wish for. FPA was a disaster. Get involved in the process. Not a month goes by when my poor ANC MEC doesn't have to listen to one of my rants. As pi$$ed off as I am about the age 60 and the FDA...ALPA does have some real strong points ie. you get fired and want your job back. FPA had no teeth. I hate ALPA's politics, but like it or not they side with the bleeding heart liberals out there because they always back unions. It is a two edged sword. All this talk about voting them off again hopefully is just that. I urge everyone to call their reps and give them an earfull. If we can't get them to back the majority because some of them are looking for furthering their political career with ALPA then yes it will be time for a change. My two cents worth.

I agree with FR8hauler, get involved. Be the one to get things changed. Call your rep and tell him what you think. A lot of jobs don't take a huge amount of time. Be on a committee.
I hear so much grumbling, but when I ask guys if they called their reps, if they called the union office, if they DID anything, the answer is always no.
I would like to see the union guys more visible, and more "in person" available. Can they do "MEC office type work" during an AOC hub turn? If it is allowed, might be nice to have a union guy hanging around to answer questions and be visible during the busy hours, rather than sitting in his office off Kirby. Also a good way to remind members about what committes there are, and what they do.

I am listening. I agree with many things said here...as does Vic Liberti. Not everyone on the MEC likes the ways things are going right now, and some change is imminent.
Some tried to recall Dave Webb. I even know one of the guys who signed the petition REAL well. I know the feeling of alienation and loss of trust many of you feel right now.
Can I ask that you hang tough...another 6 months? (Not like you have a choice, but I digress...) There are a few who feel like you do, and are committed to listening more, communicating more frequently, and being available OUT of the office sometimes. New guys swear in during March. You probably won't see much difference for several more months--but by next summer I hope some of you are saying "hey...things are different".
Don't give up. Several folks got PO'd and decided to get involved. If you'll keep that energy up we'll be calling on your for more support shortly.

Trust me it can be a lot worse. I don't know if you were here during the FPA days but it sucked. Red letters, parking lot deals...
