Default Why no seat lock? FDX

To any that know,

Is it true there is no seat lock for a captain who has bid an SO seat but now wants to come back to a captain seat? Even the newhire FOs that went to the widebody have one. Trying to figure that out. Thanks.

If you are bidding a better seat there is no lock. I have heard of folks getting yanked out of training to go to a better seat.

Why you ask? Would you rather have the UAL system and be stuck in your seat as junior people get upgrades ahead of you?

Gunter is right. I've bid a seat and bid right out of it to a higher paying seat without a seat lock. (never even made it to the PT or whatever they call it now) The over 60 crowd didn't "down bid" when they moved back to the FE spot.....They were no longer able to hold the window seat and were moved to the highest seat they could hold. I hate to say it, but I'll have to back the old guys on this one.

There is no lock for a person who has, by regulation, (age 60) been sent to the back seat..
