FDX: Latest FCIFs regarding retirement plans?

I know I saw him in SFS on that trip, my last ANC trip in Aug '97, and I called the union about it!

To all Fedex pilots, The warning lights should be on, PC is the biggest snake in the grass if there ever was one. These are not routine FCIF"s, and I would never trust rubber stamp Dave to do anything until it to late. Just a heads up!!! The company is seeking the IRS ruling for something.

Hey lurking union bubbas (Sleepy, TonyC, Albie and others!), COULD WE PLEASE GET A PLAIN ENGLISH INTERPRETATION OF WHAT THIS IRS DETREMINATION STUFF IS ALL ABOUT!*? I know it's Friday night (and we all know the company frequently drops F-bombs on Fridays), but this is really important.
Thanks,
And PS ... thanks again for supporting the age 65 position. I hope it doesn't have major implications to our retirement? Didn't ALPA promise us it wouldn't change any of our present contract?

MaydayMark - what the heck is a union bubba??? Yes, I've been a member of ALPA for many years, starting back when the commuter airlines became eligible for ALPA membership. However, I am NOT a union rep in any way, shape or form! As far as FedEx's talks with the IRS is concerned, I think (my own opinion only) that P-S-P has always meant profit-service-people. I think FedEx may be planning to petition the IRS to rule on being able to reduce FedEx's contribution to our retirement plans, if FedEx needs to in order to maintain a healthy profit margin. Remember, I'm only saying a possible reduction, not elimination. I feel these current FCIF's are the initial contacts with the IRS to see what the response by the IRS might be. Hope this helps; the warning lights are on - be positive and alert!
He's refering to a different Sleepy!

I have seen the FCIFs every year I have been here. Normally it is not an FCIF but part of the retirement statement they send us every year. There really is no reason to get spun up but that is certainly every pilot's choice.

I agree with LAG. Seems like this verbiage has been in a retirement letter every year. You know, that one you throw out as soon as you see it, unless you're retiring soon.
