FDX-New Caution

I "capish" what you're saying. Didn't realize you were talking about an intervening layover.
With that in mind, do they also cancel your hotel for the layover? Do they cancel the transportation outbound from the hotel? Something smells fishy, here.
I find it hard to believe that just because you deviate for the 1st day's D/H's, they will also cancel D/H's after a layover. Has this actually happened to you? If so, did you personally contact someone about it?
That is BS.
I thought the company's intent(I'm starting to hate that word), was to cancel all the scheduled through flights, not multiple day's flights.
If it has actually happened to you. You need to contact some folks and let us know the outcome.

If you deviate on any leg of any type of a deadhead sequence (Front-end, Mid-trip or Back-end), all legs of the same deadhead sequence will be cancelled (including deadheads with an intermediate layover). Thus, once you deviate on any leg of a deadhead sequence, you will have to re-book your entire travel plan for that commercial travel sequence.
it HAS happened to me....and IS happening to everyone who deviates now......
i have/am talking to the union about it, but......well......you know.......

had the exact same thing happen to me. i was lucky that the fare was the same when i "re-booked." the method of calling global travel before booking is a good one....doesn't always work thought.
my problem with crew skeds was that they didn't want to let me "final" check-in, even though i was now on a scheduled part of the trip. i've been told that this part is now fixed, but i haven't tested it yet.

I think you still keep the hotel, but all the ground transport to/from is cancelled.
you have to call the hotel service desk to cancel the hotel - it's not part of FOX.
everything else (but hotel) is cancelled, so a lot of good that does you too.

That's messed up. I haven't run into it, yet. As, I never try to catch up to the 2nd D/H. With, or without an intervening layover. I was assuming they meant same day, with a stop(intermediate layover). Obviously, wrong.
Once again, I think anyone that has run into this MUST contact Cont. Enforc., their block rep and their ACP. Otherwise, we'll have no hope of getting it fixed.
Sounds like another one of FedEx's "take it away" and then eventually "give it back". And, we'll feel like we won something.

I haven't seen the message, but the idea behind has always been the rule. What I do when I want to use 1 leg of the scheduled is call Global Travel and tell them I'd like to go from HNL to <city> via <hub> and connect to the scheduled leg out of there. They usually can do that though the whole thing is still a deviation and has all the usual deviation rules. After I get set up from them -- then I deviate in VIPS. Haven't yet had trouble doing things that way.

BUT
now, even when you call GT BEFORE you deviate - the new/updated cost of the HNL to XXX ticket is now HIGHER than your published "accepted fare" from HNL to XXX.
you eat the difference because the lower "accepted fare" no longer exists a week or so after it is published in the bidpack.
so unless you can save deviation bank $$$ by getting to HNL from where you live cheaper (like you live in HNL already or something?) - you'll be out the extra since you are forced to cancel the scheduled ticket from HNL to XXX.
same thing applies to back-end deadheads getting home.
it could all be fixed if "O" did what he promised and fixed the capability back to cancel individual legs - but.......evidently he hasn't made good on that........

The caution can be significantly shortened--
"If you check only one flight for deviation we will, for all practical purposes, deviate you on the other legs too. When you go back to check the unchecked leg later, it will do nothing since we already hosed you on that leg already. Good Luck!"

A while ago I booked a flight with global travel and didn't deviate because I wanted the flexibility of keeping both reservations. I found out that global travel cancelled the scheduled leg for me anyway, effectively deviating me on the trip. I asked them about it and she replied quite indignantly that it's "illegal" to have two reservations on the same day! I had intended on cancelling a reservation eventually, just didn't know which one. They made my decision for me...
