But I'd be surprised if it was a big number.
I think the actual number was 5 or 6 at least from discussions with reps. I know it was more than one. How many this time-- who knows?
Not sure what the seat lock waiver was about since all are past that point now.

Seat Lock Waiver:

Actually, most are NOT past the contractual 24 month down-bid seat-lock. In the summer of 2006 most of the ANC New Hires started training, late May to late August. The new bid closes on June 5th, thereby keeping most of the ANC New Hires in ANC but for the settlement negotiations.

The numbers I have seen floated were approximately 75% were going to bid back to Memphis, even if that meant a S/O seat, for quality of life purposes. Hence, the reason of the original post.

75%? Obviously, anyone giving up a mad-dog window seat for an uncomfortable seat that faces sideways has either not done a lot of time on the 727 or has a very, very upset wife.

I hopped up to ANC last fall to help a couple guys who were prepping for UPS, and to eat some local food. (...they call it lunch with Albie for a reason...) I hopped back to ORD on an MD-11 when I got an R-24 callout. It just WASN'T THAT BAD. I guess commuting is a mindset, but I'll take hangin out with the Anchorage bros, flying widebody jets around the world, long before I'd enjoy hub turning on the panel.

Its a free country...and I'm glad so many of us want different things. But I hereby officially scoff the 75% number. I'd say less than 10 guys would bid the panel...

Albie, are you saying it will definitely go senior?

75% is a big number, but doing it once is a bit different from making that commute 2 to 3 times a month.

I was always amazed at the guys who commuted Subic.

I heard 2 out of 3 statistics is made up. This must be one of them.

Maybe, just maybe, 75% want to bid down for narrow FO. Probably 757. Bid back down for SO? That is a horse of a different color.

Am I wrong, or is HKG F/O the only seat that they can bid, unless they had a previous award cancelled, and could have held something else.?

Default Canceled 300 and practice bid

Does anybody know if the guys who had canceled awards, can bid in the practice bid next week?

I'm pretty sure the 24 month seat lock is only after a downbid-- not initial hire. Originally the new hires to ANC were told they had no seat lock at all. "you can bid 72 second on the next bid if you want"----- but then were withheld from bidding on 07-03 and 08-01 due to "18 month seat lock unless you are willing to bid Paris or Hong Kong and then we will waive it"---- I am sure of both of those quotes although I only have one of them in writing.

Albie-- I've commuted from the East Coast to many different domiciles over the course of 3 airlines now and agree it is a state of mind. ANC a few times a monthly-- month after month is a different animal altogether. I've done the panel and will consider it if I must.

Hey Albie... how about keeping it down... those of us in ANC are really suffering here... we're hardly keeping it on the runway... it's horrible, just barely commutable from anywhere.... don't bid here guys...it sucks.... Albie's a liar!~
