Out of the 68ish nuggets, I'm only aware of one who attempted to bid to MEM and was told he couldn't. However, the bid that happened on was before the Age 65 ruling I think. With all the good news lately about growth, expansion, and seat progression (not) there may be a few more nuggets who may bid MEM now because their commute to ANC is such a pain and this may be the last chance to bid MEM for a while. But I'd be surprised if it was a big number.
Not sure what the seat lock waiver was about since all are past that point now.

Seat Lock Waiver:
Actually, most are NOT past the contractual 24 month down-bid seat-lock. In the summer of 2006 most of the ANC New Hires started training, late May to late August. The new bid closes on June 5th, thereby keeping most of the ANC New Hires in ANC but for the settlement negotiations.
The numbers I have seen floated were approximately 75% were going to bid back to Memphis, even if that meant a S/O seat, for quality of life purposes. Hence, the reason of the original post.

75%? Obviously, anyone giving up a mad-dog window seat for an uncomfortable seat that faces sideways has either not done a lot of time on the 727 or has a very, very upset wife.
I hopped up to ANC last fall to help a couple guys who were prepping for UPS, and to eat some local food. (...they call it lunch with Albie for a reason...) I hopped back to ORD on an MD-11 when I got an R-24 callout. It just WASN'T THAT BAD. I guess commuting is a mindset, but I'll take hangin out with the Anchorage bros, flying widebody jets around the world, long before I'd enjoy hub turning on the panel.
Its a free country...and I'm glad so many of us want different things. But I hereby officially scoff the 75% number. I'd say less than 10 guys would bid the panel...

Maybe, just maybe, 75% want to bid down for narrow FO. Probably 757. Bid back down for SO? That is a horse of a different color.

Albie-- I've commuted from the East Coast to many different domiciles over the course of 3 airlines now and agree it is a state of mind. ANC a few times a monthly-- month after month is a different animal altogether. I've done the panel and will consider it if I must.
