IPS? - Is that official now? Are the manglers part of our seniority list?

How many airplanes did we have when you got hired? How many now? Any idea on block hours then and now (I don't)? I really don't think that we are shrinking though.

How many displacement bids have we had?

Uh, that was to get guys new seats who were coming off of the 727/747. How else were we supposed to get our seats? And Don't say realignment bids.

2 recently, on the way to 3, but that has been to move crews off of retirement fleets and onto growing ones. Better question is how many furloughs have we had. None, even with the herpes engineers coming back. All of us under 60 are pretty much screwed for the next 4 1/2 years, but we're still here.

Do you really believe that as a 767 Captain for UPS you are "pretty much screwed" for even a minute, much less 4 1/2 years? Maybe you could rethink that. <g>

Well as long as we all pick up open time and accept JA's, the herpes will be stuck in their seats (once the 747 displacements are through). By making us appear fat, the company won't need to add any additional original vacancies that the over 60 crowd will inevitably take, and us junior folks will no longer continue to be pushed back. Then in 3 or 4 years when all of the herpes are where they should be we can start moving again (in the right direction).

Flak jacket and helmet on...

If guys are moving backwards, it's shrinking. and YES, we are moving BACKWARDS.

Before someone jumps in and suggests that I should quit, these are JUST FACTS.

Then.....they'll probably do away with retirement age altogether.

There are more FEs becoming front seaters than there are FO's becoming FEs. I'm sorry if you're one of those guys--it sucks. But we are not shrinking, just rearranging so the old guys can get their pay increased to pay for their multiple ex-wives.

It's amazing to see the old farts around the training center gleefully bashing the automation of the -400. First off, the -400 is not even that automated compared to the newer planes out there (777, A-330 etc.) They also pretend to not even know the devastation they are causing to a lot of families. There are plenty of newhires that moved to ANC that are now faced with relocating again to SDF on 2d year FE pay. If a guy is turning 60 and wants to keep flying I think he should do so with no regrets. However, the over 60 guys returning to the front seat and bumping the junior capts back should be ashamed of themselves. It's just another example of the baby boomer generation failing miserably in comparison to their parent's generation.
