All 5 FE upgraders were born in 46 and 47.

As a probie I can only hope that's true.

After finally convincing my family that this move would be in our best interest...the thought of moving back to the lower 48 after living in Alaska only 3 months is enough to make me sick.

Hoping for a miracle...

Agreed, there's always something to complain about. However, try to keep things in perspective - there are lots of folks jr to you (yours truly, I presume). Then you can think about our peers at Astar/ABX. Or the large # of folks at Purple looking down the barrel at the HKG domicile. Or, pretty much the pax industry. Then there are our poolies.

Just a lot more competition for the bunks to ANC.

BTW, before you guys bid, take a look at where some of these int'l flying aircraft are going. The MD (both at ANC and SDF) is doing a LOT more domestic. I haven't looked at it, but it seems to me if you want to limit your exposure to hub turns and maximize your int'l flying, the safe bet is on the 400 (but I haven't checked that).

Off to Nomad's

Roberto..I was looking at the UPS MX website and found a listing of the DC-8 tails currently in short-term storage pending reactivation if/when the DHL deal is approved. It looks like a total of 14 (9 71s & 5 73s). The document's dated 6/11/08. Time shall tell.

That agrees pretty much with what a DC8 check airman told me. He said 13 in ROW, and 9 of those are possible to be reactivated.

Yeah but with their seniority it wouldn't be too bad for most of them.

From the present bid choices of the Classic pilots that displace to CPT, there are:

12 to MD11 SDF
3 to MD11 ANC
4 to DC8
1 to A300
1 to 757 SDF
1 to 757 ONT
1 to 757 MIA
7 CPT's without bids on file
4 FO's (senior enough to go to CPT) without bids on file
Roberto,
Your right, as a secondary displacee, the junior ones being displaced from the MD in SDF will cause the ripple outta the bottom 22 Capts in SDF losing SDF CPT. I will not go ANC to hold seat, will go F/O SDF. Know several others doing same. A few will go ONT/MIA if able. Bottom line 22 CPTs becoming F/O's.
One classmate said will take downbid to ANC to be super senior F/O in ANC (interesting logic)

Note to poolies if/when you get the call:

Only move to base if you hate it there and want to be moved out in a few months !
