FDX info for Poolies
Hi guys,
First post, so be gentle......I retired in Nov 2007, and elected to take the money and run......I have a son swimming in the pool for over a year, and I sure didn't want to keep a seat and be the guy blocking his class date.
We ND Geezers are blocked from any company info as of our retirement date, so I would be grateful if you could give me a count of HKG f/o shortages as of the current practice bid.
I understand the pain and disappointment for many of you concerning age 60, retro, pos loa, loss of seat , etc. Most of my legacy buddies would still trade jobs with you in a heartbeat.
Keep the faith, remember we all stand on the shoulders of those who fought these battles before us, and I believe you are still better positioned to weather this storm than most.
God speed,
BG

Latest practice bid shows 32 HKG FOs. I believe the original goal (posting 07-03) was for 44 Fos. I could be wrong but I read it as 12 short as of now.

Good for you bro. I wish you could influence more of the ND's. They just gotta learn to let go. There is so much more to life than flying stupid boxes around in a crappy metal tube.

Hey Deuce,
I logged on in hopes of receiving info for my poolie son......unlike others who were kind enough to help, you chose to take a negative shot at me.
You seem to know who I am, but please don't pretend to know anything about me, or my life.
Respectfully,
BG

I don't pretend to know anything about your life at all. You were a great instructor for my IOE. Thanks. That being said, I'm not going to get into a P*** contest with you here, but I'm sure someone else's son hoped to get hired at DAL. If you really want to improve your son's chances at FDX, I recommend you email all of your old buddies and urge them to retire.

Deuce,
When guys asked me if I was going to retire, or pour coffee till moving back up front, I told them I would retire, and I did.....
Your point about blocking someone at D is well taken, however i don't think I blocked anyone. I competed with the others and was fortunate to be in a group of 6 out of the 18 that were interviewed. It was a grueling process, much like FedEx, but I don't think I got any slack from them.
Actually, I do encourage many of my friends @ FedEx to retire with grace and dignity. If they want, or need to continue their chosen profession, there are MANY options available.......big money and terrific ex-pat packages available for most a/c types as well as fractionals here in the U.S.
TJ in Bus flt stds has my cell, and I have asked him to pass it on to anyone who is considering retirement, and I will provide details on multiple job opportunities.
Note to all: our FedEx A plan pays me more than a senior 777 Captain at my current employer.........take the money and run....you won't regret it. Life is full of other opportunities and goals....and it still includes family. friends, church, hunting, skiing, philanthropy, and still working if you choose.
deuce, thanks for the kind words on Ioe....like Albie, I was trying......no desire for a P...... contest either....got to stay away from the keyboard at 2:00 am.
Purple side up.

This is how you do it with some class and grace. If you still want to fly, get in the back of the line. Finally, some common sense and class. Good on ya FedElta, enjoy Big D.
