That is true.

Seriously, too bad many of them won't even get an interview because of their decision to picket UPS.
Can you imagine that question during the interview?
"Tell me Mr. Astar Pilot, is this you here with the sign comparing UPS to Adolf Hitler? So tell, me why do you want to work here again?"

I understand their frustrations, but how can they expect UPS to turn down 10 billion dollars?

It's simple math Ned. 9,000 ground personnel out of work. 1124 pilots out of work. Perhaps 100 pilot jobs available at UPS, (due to DHL product) where there is an active pool waiting for the call, who will of course be offered positions first. You can't get a job if there aren't going to be any available. I would have thought a Super Mad Dog captain could at least do simple subtraction.
No UPS deal, DHL USA goes belly up.
ALL DHL jobs lost!
Too bad you won't even be able to interview thanks to your youtube Hitler/UPS videos and your UPS un-American picket signs. Sucks 4 you.

No, they will be out of business inside of 5 years in the US anyway, as soon as UPS takes all their remaining business. Or, UPS and DHL will expand upon this deal to include the world beyond the states. Both CEO's have been asked about this, and replied that they were not in talks about that. Yet. If you guys want to be run over by the train, that's your choice. As far as it "sucking to be me" I've lived within my means and saved and invested. I'll be ok, but there are a lot of folks here who won't be. I bet you're a real joy to fly with Ned.
