Well ... then it must be a good source!*?

Exactly!! Thank you for your vote of confidence.:D:rolleyes:

My Point was

That if even the NRA was de-bunking this, then it is fairly well de-bunked because they have a dog in the fight and would not debunk it if they felt threatened by the bill. If the one most affected by the bill if true debunks it, then I say it is fairly debunked.

For example....if Mary says......don't worry about it....it won't affect Joe.....that may or may not be a definitive statement about whether it really will affect Joe.

If Joe says...."I'm not worried about that. It won't affect me" then that is a more definitive statement.

Let me guess yours.

Is this the BS you were talking about?

In the last few weeks, NRA-ILA has received hundreds of e-mails warning us about “SB-2099,” a bill that would supposedly require you to report all your guns on your income tax return every April 15.

Like many rumors, there’s just a grain of truth to this one. Someone’s recycling an old alert, which wasn’t even very accurate when it was new.

There actually was a U.S. Senate bill with that number that would have taxed handguns—nine years ago. It was introduced by anti-gun Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), and it would have included handguns under the National Firearms Act’s tax and registration scheme. This has nothing to do with anyone’s Form 1040, of course.

Fortunately, S. 2099 disappeared without any action by the Senate, back when Bill Clinton was still in the White House. We reported about it back then, just as we report about new anti-gun bills every week. Now, it’s time for gun owners to drop this old distraction and focus on the real threats at hand.

In fact...If your post was a Snopes article...It would have references at the bottom, with links to the "biased" articles.

By the way...Did you go to the Snopes link and read it?

Yes I did. It said largely the same thing as the NRA article. But since the NRA_ILA specializes in gun legislation as a full-time pursuit, they might be a little more authoritative when it comes to people who are worried about this kind of legislation.

I was attempting to lend creedence to the position that this particular resolution posed no threat since many believe Snopes has a political agenda. I do not deny NRA_ILA has a political agenda.

What part of the NRA article was not factual?

So is the offer going to expire?

Worldguy 08-27-2009 04:55 AM

I am an NRA member, but not a fanatic, as I think most members are not fanatics. The NRA is a group focused on a particular interest, like any PAC. There are much larger issues at stake where the majority of the populace has no real representation, as it is under our current 2 party system, but I digress.

As far as the offer expiring, I don't know. If you are worried about it, just take advantage of the offer now, it is a good deal. I did a year ago and have been very pleased with the hardware.
Just do it.
