No need to prattle on about inconsequential increments. There are these easy universal rules to make life simple. And be sure to have more than a passing knowledge of any weapon you may reasonably pick up in the AO.

Rules for a Gunfight
Anonymous-Attributed to a Marine
1. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns.

2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap - life is expensive.

3. Only hits count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss.

4. If your shooting stance is good, you're probably not moving fast enough or using cover correctly.

5. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral and diagonal movement are preferred.)

6. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a long gun and a friend with a long gun.

7. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived.

8. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating, reloading, and running.

9. Accuracy is relative: most combat shooting standards will be more dependent on "pucker factor" than the inherent accuracy of the gun. Use a gun that works EVERY TIME. "All skill is in vain when an Angel blows the powder from the flintlock of your musket."

10. Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

11. Always cheat, always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.

12. Have a plan.

13. Have a back-up plan, because the first one won't work.

14. Use cover or concealment as much as possible.

15. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours.

16. Don't drop your guard.

17. Always tactical load and threat scan 360 degrees.

18. Watch their hands. Hands kill. (In God we trust. Everyone else, keep your hands where I can see them.)

19. Decide to be aggressive ENOUGH, quickly ENOUGH.

20. The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.

21. Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

22. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.

23. Your number one option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

24. Do not attend a gun fight with a handgun, the caliber of which does not start with anything smaller than "4".

25. You can't miss fast enough to win.

And broken down by service:

That first part sounds like something Jeff Cooper would say.

Les Baer's were the last round of issue. It wasn't as if they had loads of problems, but in combat we wanted to most reliable pistol. Which is also why the M4 has been replaced by the HK416.

The 1911's aren't issued in the Army SOF units anymore. Again it's a pretty new thing and most of the guys in the squadrons still have their 1911's, but the Glock is the issued weapon and it's what they carry in the sandbox. The Mk23's have been mostly turned in by the Groups and SEAL teams as it was just too big. It's accurate but commonly referred as the "crew served pistol."

ryan1234 08-25-2008 04:46 PM

Delta still carries the Wilson Combat 1911s right?
"Crew served pistol" that's pretty funny... good weapon though, its little brother, the USPC .45 Tactical is also nice.

416 - great weapon.... about time for the gas piston to come back

CAG, ie Delta no longer carry the 1911.

Most guys who used the Mk23 thought that it would have been much better to use the USPC Tactical

Sorry about that I just saw it on one of your previous posts. Do they still use MP5s, last I heard they were trying out the MP7?

They still have MP5s but aren't used very much. The R&D section tries out about everything out there (MP7, Knight's PDW, HK 417, FN SCAR, 6.5 Grendel, etc, etc...)

Mesabah 09-04-2008 05:44 PM

The Glock deal is the same as Law enforcement price for up to two guns. I got the deal right from my local dealer. I just went in and requested the Law enforcement deal. They can call glock directly if they say you can't have it.

Also has anyone tried to order from other manufacturers? I want a walther....I tried SIG but they will only give the discount if you are a FFDO.

Thanks for the advice on the mags.

Gold Dot 180gr
Federal HST 165gr
Gold Saber 165gr

Bring it back from the dead, but:

How long did it take for the gun to show up after H&K charged your credit card?

I've read several places that the 165's are just about optimal in the .40

FXDX 01-31-2009 09:00 AM

They won't charge you until they are ready to ship. Mine took about a month for the order total. Maybe 3 weeks for them to fill it and charge me, then about a week to get it to the FFL.

Worldguy 01-31-2009 09:50 AM

Got the HK in early December 08, took about 10 days from email order to pick-up.

Correct. It's for fighting your way to your rifle.

parks31 01-31-2009 12:38 PM

Does anyone know if there is a requirment on selling the HK? I ordered one last week but think I might rather have a 9mm with the short supply of ammo and cost difference. Can I sell it right away or do I have to keep it for a while? thanks

Once it's in your hands, it's yours... I'd personally rather have the HK than a 9 if you need to use it for it's true purpose.

What does United carry?

okbk 01-31-2009 04:31 PM

sent my order out on the 19th (sent it priority mail). Make sure you send it to the new address not the one on the old form. They just charged my card yesterday.

MX727 01-31-2009 06:12 PM

Probably sent it to the old address, but they charged my card yesterday also.

Easier to CC though. Don't leave home without it.

HSLD 01-31-2009 07:22 PM

I have a HK-MKII-UNIV-TACTICAL-LIGHT for the USP if anyone needs one. It fits the .45 and I'm sure it's a one size fits all accessory (will fit a compact .40). I no longer own the USP so PM if you want a great deal.

In the meantime I'm going to self moderate myself for not posting this in the Boneyard for sale section. :)

True, if you're fighting off a buck at 100 yds. I think you use the handgun to fight your way to a "legally"-sawed-off shotgun!! :)

FR8Hauler 02-02-2009 11:14 PM

Just ordered mine today. So what is up with the address on the form? Nice to know info after the fact.

parks31 02-03-2009 04:39 AM

They moved their location from AL to Gainsville, GA. I called them and got their fax number so I would not have to mail it.

Worldguy 02-03-2009 05:34 AM

You can also email the form, worked for me.

okbk 02-03-2009 06:18 AM

If you send it to the address on the older form it will get forwarded to the new address. Just adds a few days to the process.

Thanks, I sent it FedEx. Be a test for our system.

MX727 02-03-2009 02:59 PM

Just got mine today. So, maybe three weeks from the time I mailed it to the old address until my FFL got it.

Took a look at it and traded it for a Glock 20 with night sights. :)

Did you trade even? I was told you could get around $900 for it. I am considering a XD-9 instead.

I like my HK much better than my Glock 22. Never shot the 20 though...

I might have done better with selling it myself. I've seen them more in the $750 range, so I think I did OK. My dealer probably is going to make a bit more, but I'm happy. I figure I saved around $100 retail.

I have a 29. Real happy with it. Powerful, but not unmanageable like some will say. I figure I'm going to have to start reloading, and it'll be easier to just load 10, even though the dies and shell plates are the same for .40 and 10.

I'm willing to bet that those you saw in the $750 range didn't include the tritium night sights which come with FFDO pilot offer.

What a shame you decided to let it go.

Mark

Sorry for not getting back to you guys with a personal PM - I had 70+ responses from this post. Who knew this site had so many gun owners.

Light was sold - fast. Sorry.

74plb 02-10-2009 08:36 AM

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the reply. I just received my H&K .40 this week. Took about a month from the time I ordered, to the time they shipped it to my FFL dealer.
A good website for the H&K is HKPro Forums.

If there is a pilot out there willing to make a quick $100.00 I would like to buy more than one, using your allotment as they only allow one per pilot. I bought mine already, but have the urge to get one or two more.

PM me

(Due to some negative comments.. I have added the following)

(Details) Offer to buy your HK....

Some people can be soooo negative, but a pistol can be sold between private parties with minimal hassle. I strongly recommend you involve a FFL or Local Gun dealership for the transfer.

I will happily provide for your review: a copy of my airline ID, CCW permit, a FLETC graduation certificate, and my FFL information.

If there is someone who does not plan to exercise their HK discount, I would like to buy one or two. $100.00, paid direct to you.

Brandedpilot,

Still looking for an extra USP40c?

Considering letting it go. Unable to PM due to forum contols. Contact me in interested.

surfpilot 05-21-2009 10:34 AM

I actually am interested in purchasing one. Send me an email. [email protected]

Thanks
