FDX-PDO Bump
#11
What I am referring to is the contractual requirement for the PDO bumper to verbally or otherwise get the consent of the bumpee.
If you ask a scheduler or ACP they will warn you not to hit the submit button unless you have the other person's consent.

A true statement. I just did this very thing yesterday. I needed landings to avoid yet another NOQ situation. I did email the captain involved but didn't get an answer as quickly as I had hoped for. In the end I made a command decision and submitted the bump request without his approval. When I did hear from him he was a very happy junior pilot. Imagine, someone more junior than me!

Bamaboy,
You obviously don't understand the mentality of our captains.
Actually, when Ranger posted his comments, I felt exactly the same as you. It was in rather poor taste to assume that someone actually wanted to be removed from a trip, but thankfully it did work out fine, as it probably would have in the vast majority of cases. However, you are correct in that it's not something that should be done, by anyone. Captains included!

If you guys had seen the trip and had an understanding of the situation, you'd understand. Now, having had my defensive moment, I agree with you. If I had been trying to grab a HNL trip with a 48 hour layover I certainly wouldn't have done it without his permission. But this is an ugly trip.

). I'm sure that 99% of the time (100% if you asked me) this would be a win/win. However, the bottom line is that no one should make a binding change to anyone else's schedule without their expressed approval, contractual exceptions obviously excluded. BB
