Default Company smarts

Actually, I think this is BRILLIANT! The company got 5 folks to bid it last time with NO change in the status quo. (Yep, I was down for Zero--silly me--that "logic" thing messing me up again). Even if only 2 people take it now, the bean counters benefit. And, as long as they get one taker, expect YET ANOTHER bid. "Whoops, I just changed my mind, NOW I want to go there." But on behalf of this bottom-dweller Airbus F/O, a heartfelt thank you to the Fab Five, for taking one for the team--maybe I might not get sent invol yet!

There is no downside for them to keep trolling the bottom of the pond.

Their current strategy remains: Bait hook minimally...cast...pop a beer...wait a few weeks...then reel in whatevers attached itself to the hook.

They'll only add extra bait when they absolutely have to.

The interesting part to me is the training start dat of Nov 2008. The one guy who bid this gets Christmas in Memphis and fish heads and rice for New Years.

...and given it may take junior guys a few years to get back to Mempho, they may be enjoying fish heads and rice in the Year of the Tiger, Year of the Rabbit, Year of the Dragon...and Year of the Snake (2013)

Default Propaganda

[quote=magic rat;458445]Who was in the DVD? Actors? Or those that have been assimilated?

Looks like the 3 young girls in the aquarium footage on the new HKG DVD were actually Subic kids years ago. Misleading?? Or just good Propaganda??

OK --- looks like the "POH" estimators on APC are trending lower this time (...except for a few jokesters at the end).

Gunter - zero

kronan - zero

magic rat - zero

Check 6 - 1

ictflyer23 - 1

Da Raiders - 2

Haywood JB - 2

MD11Fr8Dog - 2

Todzilla - 2

frozenhoxhauler - 3

Herk Driver - 3

No Haz - 3

Wildmanny - 3

FranktheTank - 4

Box Flyer - 17

Skypine - 17

....I'm still debating on whether it will be 1 or 2.

(Note: I haven't seen the DVD yet)

Is the DVD a completely separate DVD...or on the most recent Flight Time DVD?

...Distro'd via locker or home delivery??

I completely agree that it's ALPO's fault. They should've known, given the current LOA, that we would NOT be jumping all over this. They should've pressed the company to up the offer....SHOW USTHE MONEY!!!!

ALPO endorsed this LOA and we were told we have no 'leverage'.

What I don't understand is that bidding is no secret...they can see what our standing bids are at any time. Just keep upping the ANTE and see who changes their bids, post when enough people are showing that fact on their standing bids.

Question, who paid for this DVD? FDX or ALPO?

The Flight Time one, probably depends on your selected delivery method (locker or home). The DVD's about 30 minutes long, the first 25 or so dedicated to the Hong Kong wonderfulness. If you're an ex-military guy, it kinda reminds you of when you were in resistance training going through camp "political re-education."

I think they'll get 2 more to go. (Check 6's dog and someone else.)

I am the first to say that I am disgusted with the actions of the union over the last few years.

But there was a long, rich tradition before that. More than that, many pilots gave their careers for the organization. And more than a few have given their lives while members. I'd appreciate it if you'd quit spelling the name wrong.

You never get what you ask for, you only get what you are able to negotiate for. In any negotiation, there is a point in time where the negotiations bog down, and the union has to decide whether to submit it to the membership or not.

SFS was closing and HKG was opening, with or without a LOA. It is my opinion that the NC submitted what they felt was the best agreement they could get at that time based on their interactions with the company.

The LOA was submitted for ratification and was vilified, justifiably, on APC. Mgt doesn't agree with many of the things posted here, but, they did react. And the LOA passed with some of the modifications proposed here, and documented in a LOA to the LOA prior to the final vote.

There is absolutely no way anyone can know what would have happened if the NC had thrown the company's offer back and refused to allow us to vote on it. Ultimately, the NC and MEC are only a fraction of those who voted yes. How many of the HKG pilots would have gone without a LOA?

I am confident that the NC did not negotiate for less $$. Damn sure that BC didn't turn down the company's offer of whatever rental assistance it takes to get a 3BR 2k apt in HKG or Paris. Damn sure that the NC didn't turn down FC tickets and insist on coach.
