Really? I think it has everything to do with it. How would they build 48hr lines that go around the world, within our CBA?

OK..let me esplain dis again....if the company lowers the blg to 48...lines can be built the same as today...the only difference is that the company would not be required to buy those lines less than 68 like they are today...saving about a million a month...GOT IT ???????????

Sure, but how many lines would that create? More than the number of pilots we have?

You are saying that they can just announce that the new minimum BLG is 48hrs. But they are going to continue building the lines at the current BLGs. Right?

FDX flt operations has seemed to be fixated on cutting costs for quite some time now. With the optimizer, accepted fares, fuel sense, Marriotts to Holiday Inns, no paper bid-packs, manuals, the espresso machine in CDG, etc.

So, if it would save over $1 million/month and you have all the answers:

WHY HAVEN"T THEY ALREADY DONE THAT?????

OK. Since you have all the answers:

Because to do that - they would have to announce they are doing it to prevent or delay a (dare I use the word) furlough

Not good press when you do something like that

They just announced the "actual" layoff of 200 FDX Office employees. Didn't seem to effect anything.

Who would they announce this BLG reduction to? And, who would give a crap? The WSJ? Financial Times? They wouldn't be announcing a furlough!! They would be announcing a cost saving measure of $1 million/month. We, the FDX pilots would be the only ones that care.

u were a little confused as to the blg reduction....i explained it on how it could go down...48 is not a max but a min....manning is the company's job...not the union!.....let them sift over their proposals and sort this out....and i have no idea why the have not done this already...it is in the contract and i am glad they didn't...i like the extra day off!

So let me get this straight. The company can lower the BLG to 48 to prevent a furlough. Then the union builds the lines. They could build one line at 85 hours and one at 48. While the reserve guys get 15 days at the BLG. I don't think reserve in Anchorage will go senior anymore.
