Please don't turn this thread into another DHL=Adoft Hitler with UPS as the accomplice debate.

Sick of that.

There's nothing you can do to prevent it from happening. But there's a lot you can do to keep your family from starving. And the process for that should have started yesterday if one is anywhere near the bottom. :(

As for talks in the cockpit of the impending diaster, I guess we up here in Siberia are far enough from Mecca that the worries haven't hit us too hard yet!

I fully expect to lose my seat in 2009, and I am preparing financially. We are saving every penny and we are clipping coupons. We are also paying off as much debt as possible, because I have no doubt that I will be an FO again in 2009.

I don't want to get political, but a McCain presidency is likely, and this will not bode well for airline pilots or any union member for that matter.

Times look very bleak to me, indeed.

Too bad you turned a good thread political but since you did - I agree with everything you said except that your "worker's party" man will win (it's his to lose without a doubt!!!) and then yes that doesn't bode well for airline pilots but most of all for the country. Also, you probably won't get bumped to the right seat but your paycheck (after taxes) will...

...but hey, there's always more open time, right? :) ллл that's a humorous smiley

Ps I don't want to debate the candidates - I just had to point out that not everyone agrees with your view...

I am near the bottom and yes I have been preparing...

Or go back to flight instructing? I'm glad I kept my CFI current... ;)

AirNet is furloughing 25% of their pilot force...

Bad news dudes,

AirNet is furloughing, too:(! It's really getting scary out here. Good thing that we're just in a "mental recession" and all this bad economic news is just in our heads.. I guess that we 5000+/- unemployed pilots are just a bunch of whiners...

If UPS and Fedex furlough, my opinion is that people will already be rioting in the streets from standing in the breadline. You guys are the safest of anybody and the last to go.

Still, good luck though!

In Unity,

If they were professional engineers, which they're not, yeah. Since they're pilots waiting for upgrade to F/O positions, he11 NO!

But you knew that. Or did you? Are you even a pilot?

Who are you going to instruct? You going to give flight reviews to other instructors?

Fair enough, but we're pretty sick of watching guys talk about what/how the DHL work will/won't affect UPS too. We're still here for now, you know. :)
