Well it seems that Fedex is going after most of DHL's big customers in North America. I am just wondering where is the out cry from ALPA over this one?
At the hearings UPS said that they are not using the partnership with DHL to eliminate them. Wallace, said the UPS card promoting UPS over DHL was not endorsed by UPS and they wouldnt do something like that. One element of this deal that is an antitrust concern is that UPS would eliminate DHL from the marketplace. DHL testified that this deal would allow them to better compete. FedEx on the otherhand is agressively competing but not negotiating a partnership with DHL. Thats the difference.

Gee...that clears it up.

I guess if ALPA represents you, then it makes it okay.

The case is pretty strong that we are going to pick up many of the future former DHL customers in both Express and Ground markets. Look for a mid November revelation.

USPS is HEAVILY recruiting IT types from DHL. My mom works at the Scottsdale DHL IT operation and they've been given a date in early January as their last day.

Right now, they are being paid three week's salary for two weeks of work in order to encourage them to stay around as long as possible.

I have to agree with those who thing that USPS is going to be handling international shipments after they arrive in the US. Keep in mind that USPS already has a deal with DHL for their home delivery, and expanding this arrangement mgith not prove to be very difficult.

Like I said, USPS is trying hard to recruit DHL people....I think that alone is a strong indicator of the direction that DHL plans to move.

I don't need to remind anyone who has the postal contracts for express mail.

If I were UPS, I wouldn't get too overconfident just yet.

Looks like ALPA can start to protest the USPS too....

Sorry about that, we being FDX. No doubt that UPS will get the bulk of DHL business, but FDX is picking up alot more of the DHL business already, more than anticipated.
