Will one of you guys who know FE, please, please get him to come here and share with us, the reasons that he was fired. We've still not heard it directly from either party, and no matter what, those are the only two stories that count, and since we know that we'll get nothing from the MEC, I for one would then tend to believe FE. Until then, it's still conjecture to me.

However, perhaps it's time to start a grass-roots campaign to make sure that DW does NOT benefit further (ie, going to National) from his time spent causing the problems he's caused here. Maybe each of us should spend some time talking with our friends and acquaintances at other ALPA carriers, to make sure that: 1) they know how much we, as a crew force, cannot stand the way he's done business; and 2) to ask for their help in bringing our feelings forward to their LEC's and MEC's, to help influence the current National leadership. Just a thought.

I doubt it will happen since the next NC will be a DW puppet.

If agency shop were not in place I would no longer be a member. I cannot support this association any more than the tax I pay each month.

Makes working at this place even more pleasant.
Sorry, you will never get rid of Agency Shop. Any contract has to be signed by the ALPA President and there is no way he would ever accept any possible loss of dues.

This is the second strike for Tony C in my book. He was brand new when the LOA came out and he followed like sheep. Now he takes this lying down at DW's feet.

I have said it before, It will be an automatic no vote on everything from our union until the top 3 DW, DM, and WR are gone.

I have the gas, who has the matches?

Default Pass it on

Suggestion,

Perhaps we can start a letter writing campaign for starters.

Go to the ALP web page, go to your representative's email and send a message each day registering your concern and then don't stop. Tell them it is their responsibility. This is not about the "whys" of the firing, it is about the fact that one person succeeded in steamrolling the MEC. Then, do it every day, even if it is the same message.......I assure you, they will get the message. Bottom line: If they give you a lame reason for what they did, remind them it is that there is no good reason to not do their job, to allow circumvention of the process. The reasons are irrelevant.

Tell your friends write everyday, ask them to tell their friends. If you don't care to draft a letter, copy my email and send it each day as a message that until something changes, we go no further.

If we can take the time to post here, why not send a copy to your reps as well. Couldn't hurt. If we do nothing, we are just chasing our tails.

Please pass it on, we have more power than you think.

Tony C and Albie both have said they are not comfortable discussing union business here and have asked us to use the ALPA forum. Well on the 23rd of October it was done and neither of them will respond. VL responded with a cookie cutter answer from the MEC but has not answered any follow on questions. So it's just not here they are being silent but on the very board they told us all to use. They both said they would push for more openness and better communication if elected. So the question is, in this situation especially, what happened to that pledge? I understand their not talking here, but when we do what they ask to get answers on the ALPA board, and they refuse to answer, I cannot help but be disappointed.

What line did you cross over Mike? Was it some policy that they have or was it a personal beef with DW?

Go back in time and look at how I felt about the LOA. I posted here the numerous items in which the LOA was severely lacking. I made factual comparisons using exchange rates, current compensation for others based overseas and also tried to point out how the LOA without a currency peg could really bite crewmembers in the future.

I felt the LOA was below par, but got really incensed when the Union's propaganda machine went into full swing. Particularly galling was DW's attitude when asked the tough questions during the road shows. I got a call that said I could either post my opinions or continue to serve the membership as the voluntary Chair of my committee. I chose to continue to fight against the LOA, DW chose a different Chair. Couldn't see continuing to work with him after that. I never worked FOR him, I worked FOR the members, but I couldn't stomach that 'my way or the highway' attitude from an ELECTED rep who makes a heck of a better living off our dues than the vast majority of the dues paying membership. How's that for a short answer?

You said that you were told you could keep posting or stay as the chairman. Was there a policy that addressed posting on the internet for chairmen or was he just arbitrarily singling you out?

I'm sure that you know the answer. So, what's your point?
