This is about passover pay. If the 777 pays the same as a widebody but with a big over-ride, there is no passover pay issue. Reason being that you only get the over-ride when you operate a trip.

What we have here is another case of smoke and mirrors. No more hidden money, magic formulas, kick in points, or if-then statements. We should only settle for a simple number (pay rate), larger than the rest or the same as current WB. If we go with anything else the company will have already figured out how to manipulate it before we even vote on it. My two cents.

The idea of a premium for flights like this pays the guys who do the flying. Earlier poster was correct in that the schoolhouse guys will bid pay only lines and get paid widebody rates instead of a separated 777 pay rate. This is quite a bit of savings for the company when you look at pay only lines, vacation, sick, etc. It's not a bad compromise as long as the union makes sure the premiums are already triggered (as the email said). IMHO

Why is there such a big push for a seperate payrate for the 777? sorry, this is coming from a UPS guy, same payrate fleet-wide.

In our last contract we negotiated a higher pay rate for the A-380. It was considered ULR (like the 777) and part of the negotiations (as I understand it) was allowing the 757 to be paid at narrow body rates instead of insisting on a higher rate for that. Since the company replaced the 380 with the 777 after the contract was ratified it is our contention the 777 pay rates should be the same as the 380 since we already gave something (757 pay) up for it. So if you are counting here, FDX gave up nothing for the 777 pay while we gave up a higher pay rate for the 757. BTW, if you throw in the fact that the 757 will eventually replace the 727 for the same pay and one less seat the company really comes out ahead here. Hope that clears it up..

Was just curious, because as you know, UPS pays the same no matter what airplane type is involved. Two ways to accomplish the same thing I guess. Thanks for the clarification.

you have 381 posts here. most of which are about how fedex is having to pay their drivers.....fedex getting sued....etc. (if you search them)

you seem to know and search the news a lot about fedex for a ups guy.

you really didn't know we separate our payrates?

you really didn't know ups is the only company with a single payrate?
