FDX Rumor--Bus is going to VCP this summer
Down in the Camp this past weekend and the ramp guys are saying that the Bus is coming down in June to do the triangle. A really good deal for you bus drivers if it really happens, plus it could help the manning situation in the Bus.
However Comma, we need to fix the hotel in VCP. The company is getting mighty cheap these days and now has us staying in very small rooms with a twin bed. You can upgrade to what used to be our normal rooms for $20 bucks a night, or stay down town. My recommendation is to stay down town. I already e-mailed my block rep on this and they are looking into it.

I'm in complete agreement with Jolly about going downtown. Brown is downtown in the city and there's no reason we shouldn't be. We should at least try the downtown location and see how it works out. Yes, the Palms is quite nice and yes, we no longer have Ernesto to drive us around.

During the last contract negotiations, I emailed BC and pointed out to him that our contract contains no "hotel requirements" like many other ALPA contracts. Some contracts include language saying that over X hours on a layover requires a downtown location, and also include language pertaining to the quality of the hotels. We have historically stayed at VERY NICE hotels due to the generosity of the hotel folks ... why wouldn't cheaper hotels be on the cost savings hit list?
