There seems to be a humor shortage right now, but it was no hill for a stepper. I think everyone got it, good and hard-they just don't know it yet. As is always the case.

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.

  • a mental state characterized by a pessimistic sense of inadequacy and a despondent lack of activity
  • a long-term economic state characterized by unemployment and low prices and low levels of trade and investment
  • natural depression: a sunken or depressed geological formation
  • sad feelings of gloom and inadequacy
  • a period during the 1930s when there was a worldwide economic depression and mass unemployment
  • low: an air mass of lower pressure; often brings precipitation; "a low moved in over night bringing sleet and snow"
  • depressive disorder: a state of depression and anhedonia so severe as to require clinical intervention
  • a concavity in a surface produced by pressing; "he left the impression of his fingers in the soft mud"
  • angular distance below the horizon (especially of a celestial object)
  • pushing down; "depression of the space bar on the typewriter"
We may not be in a depression but for some of the 300 UPS pilots (as well as others furloughed right now) it might feel like one.

Cheers!
We may be in the "great recession" but not the "great depression"

If true, maybe Continental can offer a solution to our "over-manning" problem too?

From Continental thread: http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/ma...tml#post576304

"Anbody hear about the possible 300 captains wanting to leave due to the A-fund and the lump sum going away?"

So... an under-educated, over-priviliged rootin' tootin' cowboy gets invited to your house (for eight years) and manages to light it on fire for you before going home... you call the fire department to put it out and then blame the fire department for the water damage to your house. Makes sense.

There was something in this post--some word or turn of phrase--that reminded me of one of those Nigerian check cashing email scams.

Sorry for the extreme thread drift.

It would be "a tale of an American sucess story" if he belonged to a different party.

I'm not entirely sure I get you here.

However, there is no doubt that it is an American success story.

No humor allowed at the alter of The One. Any dissent is blasphemy against the new state religion and punishable by a stay at Gitmo after he lets the throat cutters loose.
