But then we would know about their deficiencies in planning. Can't possibly have that.

And the other post on details--couldn't agree more. Didn't know there were any.

Think its about GT? I wonder if the company is trying to renegotiate it.

Default FDA LOA Caveat Emptor

In the latest fun news about how the information contained in the LOA isn't remotely relevant to you, the end user, the company is refusing to provide deposit assistance money for anything after the first move, nor subsequent realtor fees. This was a recent development because no one thought anyone would actually want to move after their first year! Choose your first residence carefully all you gay Parisians. You will be ponying up after the first apartment. Language is not written that way but information is lacking because our negotiating committee at the time didn't see fit to have it read properly . . . Enjoy!

I can't help but think that the well written letter from one of our own colleagues with extensive experience living overseas, including France, that pointed out numerous short comings had something to do with this!
Maybe there will finally be some much needed additions to the LOA. Just a hopeful guess here...

Maybe "over 60" guys can't be domiciled in France. They didn't sign on to the ICAO rule change as far as I know.

July 31st? That's a pretty lengthy delay. If they come to us for anything, two words.... pack sand!

I'd be willing to bet a cool 5 Euros Busboy is right - it's an age discrimination/passover pay/blah,blah, blah, b.s. that the over 60 senior citizens have been pursuing.

Not sure why that would be a factor or are you just speculating?

The letter that FedEx is requiring you to sign says that you are still a "MEM based" pilot flying assignments out of CDG. Furthermore, you have a US ATP certificate, opposed to the European equivalent, which I believe classifies you under US rules allowing you to fly past 60...even though you are living in CDG.

On a side note... during my layover in Penang last weekend I struck up a conversation with a couple from Sydney and they were telling me that there is legislation being voted on soon by the Australian government that is raising the retirement age for pilots their to age 67...and it's going to pass!!!

This may come as a shock, but, I find it quite easy to believe that the union is not involved in the daily plans of the company.
I find it easy to believe that the company isn't the greatest communicator in the world regarding their plans and concerns.

I find it difficult to believe that the company is delaying the closing in an attempt to be beneficial towards any pilot considering the bid.

I think it is possible that there is govt involvement on some level that has mgt trying to figure out whether opening a foreign domicile is in the company's best interests.

Perhaps the possibility of changing corporate tax law regarding foreign earnings is making FedEx rethink the CDG issue. It might be better to continue to write-off the SIBA travel expenses.

Don't know. And don't think there's going to be a letter from "O" anytime soon about the issue.

I do think the LOA is going to continue to be substandard w/a static (and unimpressive) housing allowance w/ no COLA. Would be much nicer if we had instead chosen to mirror the assistance the military provides an O-4, O-5 individual based overseas.
In short, don't think anything the company is contemplating will impact on those pilots choosing an European Vacation
