SIG is still involved in trying to apply some common sense to the pairings constructed by the company. They just don't win as much as they should.

Or as much as they used to. At this point, the SIG just keeps the FAA off the company's back. If it costs twelve cents to improve a trip...the crews are going to lose now.

Don't believe it? Take a look at a bidpack--or your schedule--from 6 months ago. Then take a look at your 4a2b pay stub while you're at it.

The company now writes the SIG notes too.

Notice how they all sound very similar now, regardless of equipment or base?

The SIG/PSIT members might be writing like mad, but the end result sure looks like whitewash if you look real close.

That's just wrong. We are getting takin' to the bank on the way to the cleaners.

Airbus Capt reserve day value has been under 4 hours since Feb.

Our hard parameters will not get any better, at least until the next contract and it would appear that our soft parameters are'nt getting any better either. It might be a better idea to spend our time sending the NC our ideas of how to fix this system that obviously does not work in our independent contractor environment. And in July we can't even play the "safety" card, at least on the MD-11 DPs. Only that we can't turn with these trips and have to rest on our time off.

Here's an idea. Pick up the trips, then call in sick at the last minute forcing them to be assigned to a reserve. You can always make up the sick time later.

On the contrary, I think the membership at large does support this process. What it does not support is the mealy mouthed response of the union to those that choose to fly DP's. The fact that there is no negative recourse to discourage free agents from cherry picking these trips to fill their schedules past the 4a2b limits everyone else is stuck with is what is not supported. Isn't it ironic that 4a2b was brought on by keeping the over 60 pilots and they are flying more than half of the MD-11 Capt DP's last time I checked. Sadly the rest of the Capt DP fliers are in the 80% to 100% seniority bracket. What's broken is not the SIG working their aces off every month to try and keep our schedules safe, it's allowing their work to be given the middle finger by a small group of selfish pilots who use this process to screw the rest of us and make more money with no recrimination. God knows what our schedules would be like if the SIG wasn't there every month fighting for us. Hats off to those that sacrifice time from their families to do that job. I look forward to the day that your union leadership finds more effective ways to back you up..

Even Lil Kim Song gets a "strongly worded" UN Resolution from time to time. ;)

Actually the UN reference is spot on! What we need is Hans Blix to talk to these guys about DP flying.

That is an idea. Kind of like that bandaid on the broken leg thing though. Not to worry, this months problem will take care of itself when Dom-Flag rolls around.

That's coming soon. Can't fly the 777 on the NOPAC routes without it, due to ETOPS restrictions.

BTW...I wonder what the payscale is going to be for those who bid it. I'm sure the company will be generous the way things are going these days. :o

A little birdie once told me that if a pairing reaches 10% sick average the company changes the pairing. So it could be a big band aid.
