Greetings all,
I've reserved a JS on UPS1303 from ATL-SDF on the night of July 7th.
I know where the UPS ramp is, but I'm curious about the following:
How early should I be there (the earlier the better for me in this case)?
What is the procedure from getting past the guard at the gate to where i would meet the crew?
I'll be connecting to UPS 34 in SDF to continue on to HNL.
I'm figuring I'll follow the first crew into the OPS area, meet the 2nd crew and then head out. Does that sound correct, or is there UPS crew room etiquette that I need to know?
Thanks very much for any and all help!
Frats,
Tom

If you need to, you can park across the street and walk to the UPS building and security.
Once you get to SDF, ride the crew van with the crew to find the jumpseat desk to check-in for your next flight (have two photo IDs, again). Start looking at the TV screens mounted on the wall for your next flight number and aircraft parking location. Try to locate the crew about 1.5 hours in advance (your flight number and CPT's name will be listed on your jump-seat request form).
Have a great time...

ATL will be easy. The crew will show about 1 hour in advance and you should try to be present. Your identification will be checked (two photo IDs) and your bags will be scanned through security. Asked the security guards for direction and get your jump-seat request printed and verified. Take this request and speak with the crew.

What I do (offline guy who uses UPS quite a bit (Thanks guys! You're beyond awesome!), is if I don't see the crew between an hour before to 45 minutes before go time, I head out to the plane. As stated before, there's a big board with your flight number, Ramp and parking spot number, Tail Number and CA's name. Write all that stuff down and head out to the vans. Get in the correct one for your ramp and tell the driver where you're going (ex. Ramp 11, Flight 34). If the crew isn't out there, I just wait patiently at the bottom of the stairs for their arrival.
Also, if you have some sit time in SDF, the girls at the Jumpseat Desk will give you a temp. ID. That'll get you in the cafeteria (pretty good and very cheap food).
Enjoy it! UPS is wonderful to jumpseat on and the people have always been awesome to me! If I have to use freight, I use them!

Free yes, secure no. Though the neighborhood by there looks a lot nicer than when I worked at Fedex back in the day.

I don't go aboard. I wait at the bottom of the stairs, bags in hand (or by my side) until the next crew van pulls up. I don't board until I get the ok to ride from the crew. Plus I wait until I speak to the Captain to see if he wants the bags in the belly or upstairs.

You are crazy. the cafeteria is abysmal and it is expensive. Why arrive before the crew to the plane? Go out 30 minutes before departure and avoid the awkward waiting around by yourself at the jet.
