The highlight of the night was a foray to the cargo warehouse to confront a bunch of rat scabs who needed police assistance to get to their cars. They seemed to be rather afraid of coming to chat with their old crew members, and waited for another police escort for about 25 minutes while being jeered. It was the most pathetic spectacle one can ever see, cowering rats being escorted by the police, who really don't seem to be all that punctual. Keep rattling them, no one will cross anymore. These snakes all walked on the first day. They can't keep it up forever. No ABX planes launched for AJT, so AJT tried to get a Tradewinds A300 crew together. No dice.
Hope these scabs are getting the required time off from duty to be legal to fly, wouldn't want them to endanger themselves or the flying public that has to share the airspace with them. One of the neat things during the UPS Teamsters strike was watching the police ticket the scabs as they blew through a stop sign as they exited the company property. When the strike was over and all the IBT where at work watching the company turn their backs on the people who had crossed the pick for them, suckers.

Hey 757,

I was there too, with our group of nearly 100 pilots proudly refusing to fly UPS struck goods.... Aug. 17, 1997 I believe. The last night I heard the "Lear" ramp looked liked Dunkirk, with planes sitting on the ramp (From GAE Aerostars up to ATI DC-8's) with nobody to fly them. You guys can be proud...

By the way, here is an idea: Have Captain Miller get in contact with your ALPA Liason, John Prater, Dave Webb, Captain Kuwitzky at SWAPA, Captain Hill at APA, etc. and encourage them to step up an effort against Aeroservice as they are enabling scabs. Southwest should encourage B737 types from anybody but Aeroservice! Maybe a little picketing might hurt them as well. If Aeroservice is faced with a choice, I'll bet that they would choose SWA, Airtran, etc. over Amerijet..

This is a truly special time in aviation, when many pilots are standing up for a few: It makes me proud of my fellow pilots to stand up for those that I'm sure felt forgotten.

Any thoughts on an Aeroservice boycott?

In Unity,

Wow, you must be the healthiest person I've ever heard of - you never call in sick?

You either don't fly struck freight or you do. If you do - well, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

Edited: Cripes, I just read the post on the "job" you have Anthony! I'm beyond astonished that you would even consider crossing for a crap job like this! Like someone else said, get fired and either draw unemployment or get a job at Home Depot! Either one will pay as much as you are making now.

It's truly pathetic what this industry has become, and I'm sorry Anthony, but you are the poster child for it.

Anybody can show up, it's not just pilots and fe's out there picketing. When I was there, we had handlers from DHL and ATC union officials out there lending their support!

E-mail communication sent out to pilots from ALPA National (FASTREAD):

ALPA Supports Amerijet Pilots

As many of you know, Amerijet crewmembers have been on strike for six days. This unfortunate turn of events is a result of being locked in a bitter dispute with management. These men and women are looking for basic improvements in their first contract while dealing with a company that has shown no respect for them or the negotiating process.
Although Amerijet is not an ALPA carrier, it is imperative that we support all airline pilots in the fight for fair and equitable contracts. To that end, if any of you are in the Miami area and are willing to support the pilots and flight engineers of Amerijet, they will be picketing the offices of the airline 24/7. The offices are located next to the ATC tower in Cargo City at Miami International Airport.

The address is:
Amerijet International
6185 NW 18 ST BLG 716-B
Miami, FL 33142

The pilots and flight engineers of Amerijet, represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 769, have not yet contacted ALPA for support in the strike. However, we want to make it clear that ALPA fully supports the Amerijet crewmembers in this dispute. A delegation from ALPA’s national Strategic Preparedness and Strike Committee will travel to Miami to offer its assistance to the crewmembers of Amerijet.
Nothing displays our solidarity more than showing support through e-mails or letters of support, or better yet, walking the picket line.

Actually, the point was to prevent having the cargo loaded in the first place. If you see evidence of struck cargo (i.e. any AJT labels, nets, shrink wrap etc.) on the ramp before it is loaded, you can prevent a delay of your nonstruck cargo caused having to offload the struck cargo. Many times, the cargo is available for viewing prior to loading and prior to all of the paperwork being available.

Actually the point is to let them load it and then unload it. Crew may or maynot time out. The customer gets a delay for accepting AJT freight. Next time they don't accept AJT freight.

If however you find it before it is loaded, you don't load it. Some you may even find at a thru stop, in which case I guess you would have to take it off there.
