RDG regret?
I’ve signed up for a total of 7 RDG periods in the next three years (+ sick time, 2 J/Ss and one short term LOA). I do not regret helping out our bottom 300 guys/gals BUT I am not impressed with how the RDG bidding process actually works.
Please do not turn this thread into being pro- or against the MOU itself. That’s all history now. I simply think the bidding process is very unfair.
Anyone else is as disappointed as I am?

I thought that the guy on the bar and grill laid out some very good points. Sounds like for all the money that we gave them, we could have insisted on a better bidding process. I myself have not partaken in that particular program, but I am about to find out about the job sharing.

Minimal complaints on my end as a Z guy. One 12 day trip and 2 blocks of 3 weeks off during the bid period worked great. I would have liked them to have the RDG lines built for the normal bidding process is my only complaint. If I didn't need the money, I've found my niche..

The way that they do it violates the seniority of those that are both in and out of the program. The company gets to decide which group of pilots, volunteers or non volunteers, get to bid on which trip. If you are in the wrong group, your seniority has nothing to do with you getting a trip you might want. A much better way would have been to drop trips down to the 65 after the bids.

But then they lose control of what is in open time and when it is there. They absolutely need that control to maintain our "overmanned" condition. Our seniority list is only overmanned on paper, they don't seem capable of placing the bodies where they need them at the right time.

I don't understand how it violates seniority if VTOs don't? Can you explain? Don't they build the RDG lines with trips dropped for vacation?

I think the compaint on the B&G was that it violates the seniority bidding of the straight VTO bidders ... FWIW
