I really hope that you were misinformed

Yeah, I hope so too... Of course, most of all I hope no one will get furloughed.

Yeah, that's what I did. I can see AV8OR's frustration if he misunderstood or was misinformed. I kind of get what he is saying but it's early in the morning (still have a 1/2 cup of coffee left. )
I'm just glad that I signed up for regular RDG so I don't have to worry about it. When I read the RDG A and B options, it seemed too confusing for me (ie. keeping track of hours over a few months, etc.) so I just did every 2 pay periods of RDG. Good luck AV8OR.

No, they don't have to build RDG lines with trips dropped for vacation and that is a beef with the system.

Let's say that there is a desirable pairing. I dunno, let's call it RFD HOT. As we have it now, the company can put it in a bid line, where everyone can bid on it or not depending on their seniority, or they can designate it for an RDG line where not everyone can bid on it. Someone living in the area, say with a small child that they like to spend time with <G>, would not be able to bid on it as a line holder no matter what their seniority. The difference between that and having it drop out through the VTO process, is that it would have first been available for bid by everybody. Someone would have been awarded it by seniority and then dropped it for vacation or training.

Hope that I made it clearer

Yup, clear as a whistle. I can't say I agree with the way they do it either although I the only way I'll ever get RFD hot is that way <g>

Thanks and no problem, I'll be ok. Seeing the plight of several of my laid off friends at least I still have a job, right?

By the way, no I wasn't misinformed, I simply wasn't smart enough to realize the difference (or lack of) between RDG, RDGA and RDGB... Expensive lesson to be learned...

Well in that case all VTO's violate seniority. The best line I have had at UPS was a VTO!

It made it clear and it explains the line quality in the bid packages. The seniority was totally trashed and the concept of "volunteer" is bull. Those of us who contributed in other ways where also "volunteered" for something we didn't want.

Why don't you pick up additional time to get to your 55 or 65 hour RDG. That way, the hit on the next few months pay will not be nearly as bad. If they don't allow you to add time to get to 55 or 65, that's pretty crappy negotiating on the IPA's part. I get why you can't go above 55 or 65, but you should be able to come close...

I don't think RDG participants are allowed to bid for open time... or did I get that wrong too? That would be a great solution indeed. I'll look into it... Thanks
