Default UPS'er Let-go

Heard Rick Barr was in ANC to fire a FO today. Apparently the CP wanted to give him a chance and upper level manglers wanted this guy gone. Apparently he was trying to sit reserve in So Cal, other issues too. Anybody have more intel on this?

I know nothing of the situation you're bringing up. As much as we lament UPS corporate culture they are pretty fair employers. My point is it usually takes a whole lot to get fired as a pilot.

Wow, that's pretty shocking! Last time I heard someone was being let go I believe it had to do with a failed alco- or a drug test - not sure which. ...and that was a pretty senior captain, not an fo.

I agree with ToStayOrGo (PS. don't stay of you're senior to me ) - there might be much more to this story... Hope the union and the company will work together on this one...

I heard they fired a Capt a few weeks ago for calling in sick from the airplane at pushback time --on the sat phone no less. I'm sure there's some truth in that crazy statement somewhere...

What? He/she used the sat phone to call in sick!? I thought we got sat phones specifically so we could call the VRU and check on which line we were awarded?

PS. Not making fun of the circumstances of this particular case - simply know nothing about it.

Dang! When I started to read that I thought I was reading that Rick Barr was fired. Too bad.

Based on some of the stories I've heard, it seems that this is true.

There have been a few guys fired in the last couple weeks. A couple captains and a FO.
All self inflicted.
