"Let's just say to get fired from UPS, you have to 1. Lie to them or 2. Steal from them. The people losing their jobs, fall into one of the two." - UPSFO4LIFE
There are more categories. Every employee needs to protect themselves at all times. This company also has issues with delays and cancellations of flights, regardless if the crew was correct in said delays and cancellations. Too many times if the boxes don't move, they go out for blood.

Basically, terminations have been for:
1. Testing positive for banned substances or alcohol.
2. Stealing, which includes falsifying expense reports/actual theft/not being where one is supposed to be when they are getting paid to be there/falsifying military orders.
3. Chronic no - shows/UTCs.
4. Difficulties during probation.
In truth, very few people have been fired from UPS. In fact, it's pretty hard to get to that point. One has to make an effort. There is plenty of assistance from both the union and company if one is having personal issues that affects their job.
It's pretty simple to stay employed here. Don't steal. Don't lie. Come to work on time and sober, do your job like a professional, and you'll have a nice long career. Should't be too hard...

Freightpuppy,
I can tell you that a recently fired Capt (MIA) got canned for claiming rental cars. Don't know any specifics but alot of people have told me so.
I had a guy in my AF squadron who was fired by American Airlines and kicked out of the Air Force because he tried to aviod taking mil leave (For a 3 month formal school!!) by bidding reserve and strategically calling in sick when American tried to use him. He was a Captain at AA at age 29 and had the world by the ba#@s! but got too greedy! He ended up losing his house and wife in the process!!! all for a few thousand dollars that he didn't need!

Every employee, no matter where employed, needs to protect themselves at all times. Why would you say UPS is any different? I have been a part of a delay and flown with those who have caused delays and do not know of one who was fired for that alone. Also, failed checkrides will not get you fired here. Go ask those who have failed and those who were "bought out" because they could not pass an upgrade. It is very very hard to lose you job here because you lack the skills to do your job.

I didn't say UPS was any different.

I also didn't say anyone in particular was fired. I do know 'some' have been made 'uncomfortable' with their decision.
I think it unfortunate there are some who seem to think disciplinary issues concerning others is their business and it should be discussed in public without even knowing the true details. My only point is one must always protect oneself when flying for this company - or any other company with the same working environment.

The mangler said there were many things he didn't like but overall he was ok with it. He mentioned that "overworked managers who can get fired left and right" is a myth as in the last 20 years only 1 or 2 were let go. He seemed pretty content with his choice.
Have no idea how true that it, just what I heard. Personally I'd never cross over for a gazillion reasons, solidarity with my brothers and sisters being the most important one but that's a totally different story...
Instead of starting a new thread a quick question to y'all. If someone gets displaced to a different domicile is he/she still obligated to the MOU options he/she agreed to?

I agree, I know the calls happen all the time. Those "why were you late?" calls happened at every one of my previous airlines too though. So I was simply wondering if someone can really get fired for having many delays as someone pointed out?
