Wrong Night Dove, "The same guys that did nothing in the MOU are the ones that voted for BT I am sure of that".
I was a full paticipant in the MOU and Voted for Bob T. The Furlough Threat is Secondary when it came to me Voting on a Pres. I'm not going to base my future and contracts on a Forlough THREAT. And I know many others just like me who gave during the MOU and voted for Bob T.

Bob is like a bull in a china shop he is going to give the finger to UPS when MOU 2 fails in two weeks. 400 pilots will get furlough notices Jan. 4th 2010. A heck of a lot of unhappy unsuspecting campers are going to start the commute to the North Pole.
Then BT will spend the next 2 years enforcing the contract , organizing the manglers and integrating them into the seniority list. Count on being furloughed for at least 3 years probably 5.
The same guys that did nothing in the MOU are the ones that voted for BT I am sure of that. Contract 2012 will be nothing more than a retirement grab by the 50-65 crowd. Left over UPS junior pilots good luck.
I am going to go throw up now then put up Christmas decorations and get drunk!

Can't get a job caddying, sorry to say. With the downturn in the economy people are taking golf carts, tried to get a couple guys jobs and couldn't.. I'm predicting 315 furloughs.. Kidding aside, I have no earthly idea, but am preparing for nuclear winter just in case Now, back to futures trading, online gambling, and this new Nigerian e-mail scam I'm working on..

I'm confused Have things not picked up (ie. loads) over at Brown? I was assuming they had since we are a lot busier over at Purple than 6 months ago. Please don't take that comment the wrong way, I'm not slamming Brown.
FedEx management, IMHO, way overshoot their knee jerk reaction to the economic downturn and now our manning levels are all out of whack and we are UNDER manned for peak. There is no way management cold furlough now because scheduling has been very busy offering 1.5X pay to cover and fill trips.
I hope UPS management is just threatening furlough and nobody hits the street in Jan. Good luck guys, healthy competition is best for all

PurpleTail, you'd think if things are picking up with you guys then we should be right there with you. I think things are picking up, albeit slowly, and ups mgmt is just trying to see how much $$$ they can squeeze out of their overpayed underworked pilots.

BTW, how nice of the union to post displacement bid instructions with or without a furlough today. Think they are trying to tell us something?

Actually, nobody will get a furlough notice until April 4th. The company has to give 90 day notice to the union, which will happen Jan. 4th. BT may not be able to stop the current MOU, but when we fall 30 million short, don't look for anything else to stop the furlough. Guys, BT thinks furlough is just part of the job for junior guys. Don't think for a second that he will try real hard to prevent one!
This is wrong, UPS could drop the bottom 200 Jan 4th. They only need to have 90 days of pay. (why they would do that is beyond my paygrade)

I'm a little surprised BT won based on his "We'll be lucky to keep what we have in the next contract."
As far as furloughs, the instantaneous part went away when they decided to train the bottom DC-8 FEs. They will have to replace the ANC base if they do furlough.
