You sir, are clearly clairvoyant . So I guess the original reason for the 'new policy' was that mgt was trying to insulate us from the insensitive new policies of the pax carriers. Or perhaps it was just to save us from ourselves .

My questions:
If an airline calls FDX corp travel about multiple, same-day reservations for an individual, what are they going to tell them? Would they perhaps have them call us?
If the airline doesn't call, how do they choose which reservation to canx?

I am amazed that we have fallen back into talking about things we shouldn't before the ink is even dry on the FCIF.

Keep it up, another FCIF clarifying policy will be drafted from your comments. Odds are it won't be in our favor.

Please tell me where our talking about it has changed anything. Either the airlines started canceling double bookings or the have not. If anything it sounds like Fedex was reacting to other carriers when they instituted the idiotic policy that started this thread. Perhaps the management zombies read our reaction and decided they over reacted. If anything we now know why this happened. Information is good. Anybody have the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil smilies. Perhaps there is an ostrich hiding its head in the sand smiley.

I'll fix em, I will only double book on seperate carriers (insert evil laugh smiley).

I took the FCIF to be a big warning-> Deviators: Caveat Emptor
It is a somewhat fair warning that we need to keep a closer eye on our airline reservations or the deadhead in your future could be a complete surprise.

Rhetorical question: When was the last time mgt did anything in our favor?

You sound like Gordon Gecko from the movie Walstreet.

I give up. Knock yourselves out. You think managers always know all but they actually get some info from this forum. There's always someone looking to close some little known loophole.

And you sound like Eddie Haskell trying to get Wally to sneak something by Ward and June. We aren't doing anything immoral or illegal, the FCIF backs that up.

PS:

Anyone ever notice the remarks in the Global Travel EMail:

***YOU MUST CANCEL A NON-REFUNDABLE RESERVATION***
***PRIOR TO DEPARTURE OR THE VALUE OF THE***
***TICKET WILL BE LOST***

Can you cancel a non-refundable reservation?

I find it humorous that management trolls these boards and then out pops an FCIF. The joke used to be that rules were made via FCIF and not the FOM. Why not just cut out the middle man and now make rules on APC?

Perhaps APC has become one of the "formal feedback programs" as described in the "People-Service-Profit" model mentioned in the latest Chairman's message.

"...We encourage feedback through formal programs so that we can continue to deliver better and broader opportunities to our people."

It's pretty clear people are much more candid here than in those "hub turn" mtgs.

This gave me more than a chuckle.

It has a certain ring that makes it sound like something great but actually results in less feedback because it means "Don't give any feedback outside of official channels". Kinda like the "Commander's action line" that wasn't. At one base people called in their complaints and concerns but were given such condescending and useless reasons why things were the way they were it fell out of use and was, eventually, abandoned. People just quit calling in because they knew it wouldn't help them at all.

Problem solved. No complaints means everyone is happy!
