CX pilots now get 9200 USD a month in housing allowance alone. . This is entirely independent of their salary. It's simply what it costs to live in HK in some semblance to a western human being. Yeah, Fedex pilots should have to live by the airport in TC for 2700. Riiiiight....... Perhaps I should keep my mouth shut now... |
From APC:
CATHAY PACIFIC: Housing allowance for HKG-based pilots only This allowance may go to property purchased or rented in Hong Kong 2 types of allowances: (a) the cash housing allowance which is $14,000, $18,000 or 24,000 HKD (dependent on position and years of service, or the mortgage allowance, which is variable/fixed, currently at $5,800/mo. They do pay for 70-90% of private schooling though. And don't forget, their pay tops out at about $220k american a year for senior captains, with no A fund. |

If your saying that this is what cathay pilots recieve in housing allowance, then your data on the Mig is innacurate. It is, based on what my cathay friends tell me over here more like around $4000 USD to start and then it goes up to nearly 10,000 when you get senior.

APC is DEAD wrong on CXs housing allowance numbers. Here is the accurate information, direct from a Cathay Pilot:
That info is partially correct....but they are only the "base rates" SO: Year 1-2 HK$14,000/mth Year 2+ HK$18,000/mth JFO and above....... HK$24,000/mth These are known as "base rates"...this is the amount you can take as cash in lieu of rental allowance, if you choose. RENTING As an SO, if you want to Rent, CX will pay HK$29,500 per month (US$3800) FO: Year 1-7 HK$59,000/mth (US$7600) Year 8+ HK$75,900/mth (US$9800) Capt: HK$92,700/mth (US$11,900) BUYING: If you choose to buy a property in HK then CX will pay your mortgage at: HK$59,000 - $63,000/mth (US$7600 - US$8100) <end of his post> A year 5 cathay widebody FO gets 7600 USD per month in housing allowance. |
