more questions
Do you do a lot of night flying on the MD-80?
How much advance notice do you get for the next flight? Does the company provide good hotels? Is the 16 on / 14 off schedule consistently honored? I mean, I guess people can volunteer to work days off, but do they force you to do that? Got2Fly |

I am new to APC but have been following the forums for quite a while.
I am just wondering how the schedules are done with the 13 bid periods/pay periods? One paycheck per pay period or two? Is there any other way besides selling a day off to make a little extra $$? Loading/unloading pay? I am looking into another company flying DC9. Just wondering what thoughts are of flying MD-80 vs DC9? I'm completely aware of the obvious differences of the two airframes, but would one set me up better for a future job with the majors? Anybody currently flying for Everts care to share how the company treats the pilots? Thanks in advance for the response! |
Both jets are good qualification systems. The reason the MD is preferable is that most are equipped with EFIS and FMCs. That prepares you for more modern jets down the road.

Thank you and I understand that. I have previous experience in 121 ops with EFIS and FMS/FMC equipped aircraft. But I don't have any 121 PIC or large turbine PIC. This type of flying is very intriguing to me and would like to get into it. But I also want to make sure that I fly something that will competitive for any future jobs I may want. |

Do you think that a future employer cares a whit if you've been flying an MD-80 or a 737 or an airbus? Do you think it would give you an advantage to have widebody experience vs. narrowbody? Not a bit. PIC 121 experience will benefit you, as well PIC turbine in general. Nobody's going to care much what it was that you've flown. |
Yes, curious myself about health benefits:
Who is the provider? Cost for employee + family? Deductibles in each plan? When does health insurance kick in? Thanks for the insight. |

All good questions... However submit a CV... get the invite for the “SKYPE” Interview. Pose your questions then... for the matter of accuracy.
