Doesn't matter
I hate to say it, but I already don't want to fly with BCrosier. I feel like any discussion with him/her on the road will be like this thread.
If someone gives you their best advice....say "thank you" and move on. If you don't agree.....you still say "thank you" and move on. If you need clarification, by all means ask, but when you don't like the answer, don't argue with the guy who was trying to help you.
It doesn't matter....go ahead...if you can convince yourself to put something on the application and you think that will get you hired....go ahead. In the end it's your life....we don't have to live it. We have guys here who are spending time giving their best advice to people on this board. Just because it is an answer he or she doesn't want to hear doesn't change it.
Most have been pretty unequivocal and have made it pretty clear. They should only have to say it once....
In the end, it's your decision, and any advice you get on the internet has to meet your filter requirements. Do what you want on the application....I am sure it doesn't matter. Some people will have what the company wants, others won't. We will hire all we need.

bc..do us a favor. If you want a chance at a job here, go get the FE written. You have the time. But quit whining about what the requirements are. They are what they are. Trust me, lots of folks out there will have a new FE written in their pocket even though the old one was still valid by FARs. Next you'll be complaining that we don't hire directly into the left seat of the 777.
I am not cracking on you FlyByNite, you were trying to be helpful....But it sounds as if this guy thinks he'd be doing us a favor by applying

Thanks for the great info, fellas.
Anyone know how critical recency is going to be in the process? There are a lot of furloughees out there (such as myself). I've been flying UAVs for the Guard for the last year. My last C-5 flight was Dec 2009. I did get my 737 type last month, so I am current again.
Anything you guys would recommend? Should I go fly a C172 for a few hours just to show some flight time?
Based on the sheer number of applicants, I'm not terribly confident I will get much of a look, but I'm sure going to give it my best shot.
Best of luck to everyone!

It sounds like you've all the requirements needed, so I wouldn't go out and spend even one red cent on flying a light aircraft, just to show "currency." The fact of the matter is that if you're hired, you'll probably spend some time sitting sideways, so unless you're still flying militarily, by the time you get a window seat, you'd have lost your "currency" anyway. Don't sweat that. As for your chances, no one can really say. Hopefully you have at least one good sponsor. Someone who knows you well enough to go out and advocate on your behalf, to the powers that be. If you have more sponsors, all the better, but it's been my observation, having successfully sponsored 4 applicants, that quality always outweighs quantity (or so my wife says)
Good luck.

I do have a solid sponsor, and at least 2 others that will vouch for me (hopefully!). There are a couple more that I flew C-5s with at Dover that I've lost touch with but am tracking down now. Both are in the TN Guard now.
Studying the Sheppard Air FEX material now. Those guys are swamped!

Sorry about that, I knew it was JetJok, but somehow it came out the other way. My daughter and I have been working on spelling and the c vs k has been a topic as of late.
Thanks for the advice.

FDX Hiring process revamped
Anybody have any intel as to how the process will be changed? I heard that there will be a revamping of most of it due to requirements from legal.
Couple snippets heard from a bud were:
1. Limited number of rec's/crewmember (number I heard was 2/yr)
2. No more meet n greets
3. Interview process - sim/hr/test totally redone
4. personal liability for your rec's. They screw up on property YOU get a call.
Can anybody confirm or add more?
