Here's the deal guys/gals......
If you want consideration to possibly get a job interview at Purple, have a current FE written OR have the FE turbojet rating. It's really that simple. The guy/gal next to you is going to have it and the other dude who's application is behind and/or in front of yours is going to have it. As long as we have the Jurassic Jet, you're going to need an FE written to get considered for an interview or, see above, you're going to need to be demographically gifted.

Assuming all the internal/corporate hires and poolies are going to the 727SO, what are the number of remaining 727SO vacancies? Just wondering if that is what they are hiring for or would they hire into a HKG or the rumored Cologne base, or other vacant seats...
Thanks much.

part 135 air carrier. However, applicants do not need to have been
continuously employed by a qualified air carrier between the time they passed
the knowledge test and the time they apply to take the oral and flight tests.
Any idea of how long of a gap in "continuous" is?

First hand knowledge from 727 Standards, FedEx wants a current FE written. Don't try to figure out what the regs say is valid, that doesn't matter. If you want to work at FedEx, they want you to have a current written...Period.

A few of you are missing the point!!
It doesn't matter what the FARs state about the validity & duration of the FE written!
If you want to work here, take the FE written so that it is current within the last 24 months! If you aren't willing to jump thru this hoop and/or you are whining about it, then you do not belong here. We have outside requirements that we accomplish every year to stay current & qualified. This is such a miniscule requirement of the "big picture" and easy to accomplish, I do not understand why it is even being questioned?
It is RARE that a new hire will go to a window seat. That will change when the B-727s are parked, but that will not happen for years!! A few new hires from 1995 & 2005 and then the "Purple Nuggets" to ANC (and a few of those guys are on the panel as I type this tonight...).
Will HKG be offered up? Only Mgmt knows the answer....
