UPS new sked rules
could someone please spell out in non-emotional, clear, concise english how "we are all screwed" because of the new scheduling rules. whenever i hear someone complaining about the new scheduling rules all they say is "we're screwed" or "we gave up everything" or "we're never going to be home" or ...... (you get the point). everything i hear is 100% emotional and 0% factual. so could someone please give me some non-emotional, clear, concise, concrete, factual examples of how we will suffer more under this contract vs the old contract. i'm not saying i support this contract. i think we could have done better but there's no point crying over spilled milk. again, no emotion, just factual examples of how we are worse off than before.

The more restrictive rules domestically include having to check in for a deadhead start to your pairing, showing 18 hours early for edw trips (or loss of 3 hrs pay). Also, gateway hots can sit hot in a second gateway (subject to original start and end times of original hot). These were emotional items for a lot of the voters, to me they are negative but not showstoppers.
I think they are balanced by reduced reserve (15 days instead of 16) with one less hour of on call. Also, you can't be turned out on reserve if you are outside your original call window. Reserves can now preference trips so commuters will opt to fly instead of sit and sdf guys will sit instead of fly (which I believe will make rsv go senior again). For next day trips, max scheduled duty is now 11 vice 11+30 (basically duty is reduced 30 min across the board, I believe). The actual domestic trips should overall be a lot cleaner due to edw, although the baseline trips (cat and dog trips) will still exist. The secondary sort (3 hours in sdf and then 2 hrs in sat) that really sucked the life out of us is illegal now.
There is a lot more in international that I'm not as familiar with, but I think the disappointment most of us felt was not so much that there wasn't an improvement, but that they wanted more improvements.

I encourage you to go to FF's site, but realize he has an agenda. He has some good products there (I believe he is working on a sked cheatsheet) but his agenda for the site was to defeat the TA.
