Unfortunately people like that don't give a frog's fat a$$.

Manpower planning says another system bid around the corner for ANC 747-400 vacancies due to Age 65 retirements, then "something" this summer to take into account impending Rest Rules Regulations.
To me, that means recalls. Keeping my fingers crossed, but not getting my hopes up just yet.

I forgot, I heard another good one:
Whom ever is replacing L.K, forgot his name, wants to come in as the new airline president and start the recalls and make a statement like: "after reviewing our needs I feel it is more prudent to start the recalls now."
Gives him the opportunity to come in as the pilots friend, etc...
But, he has to get ATL to go along w/ it, of course

The unsubstantiated rumors are really getting old, add to that you may be doing more harm than good. There are people looking for ANYTHING to grasp too and when it doesnt come true it is possible the result is less than a stellar feeling. Or worse, so please stop.
Here is the rumor you should be selling:
UPS is recalling in 2012 just like they said, and that is all any of us knows.
Here's a fact:
The IPA is impotent stop the FQS hiring, and will fail in their attempt with integration (IMHO). It was executed wrong, and the timing was the worst possible moment to do so. It should have been taken care of 20 years ago. I'll bet anyone with a time machine 100k that I would not have been furloughed with BM still in office.
These guys SEE how UPS will react and realize they have no regard for HUMAN LIFE, let alone their own pilots or managers. Thus, they are all towing the line and not signing cards.
They will cram this futile attempt down my throat (and 100 others) to send a message to the IPA, dont mess with the gorilla. The only way it (FQS) will go away is in negotiations, and if so, that may come to a strike. In the mean time they will do ANYTHING to keep us out during that process, including hiring as many managers as they see fit.
Shoot, Aim, Fire. That should have been the motto.

Look, I am furloughed and junior which means I am supposed to keep to my corner or I'll be sighted as making waves or god forbid, asking questions. You asked, I'll answer.
The FQS issue is one that is very near and dear to the UPS heart, it will have to be fought for tooth and nail.
Now lets look at the timeline and personalities. A new pres comes in he kicks the gorilla in the nuts ala his style. Guess what, the gorilla didnt like it, and kicked me in the nuts just for fun.
Now before I hear the "The IPA didn't furlough you" line, let me state this, I know that. But in my OPINION this was handled all wrong. The time to go after the FQS is not when the gorilla is holding 300 people over the edge of the cliff in a net with sore testicles. The time is when you have some leverage, ANY leverage over the gorillas footing, we did'nt.
We still dont.
This should have been handled in a different way at a different time (when the economy was NOT in the toilet and could not be used as an excuse). Now it will get taken care of in negotitations, but with hostages, and all the baggage that goes with it.
Many promises have been made, overt promises that have not come true, and never should have been made.
We were told OUTRIGHT, "they cant furlough", then there was "well they can't furlough past 54", blah blah blah.
All we know is what UPS tells us, 2012. Fire away if you want, but its my opinion.
Back to my corner with my play-doh.

I would say that we had leverage at the time which didn't exist for many years. We had a democratic administration with a democratic NMB. Now that doesn't promise us anything, but they passed card check, and none of this would have been possible under a repub admin. RT was elected with a clear goal of getting the FQS under the IPA's umbrella and I applaud him for trying it. It's not over yet as you know, so hang in there. Being furloughed sucks but UPS probably would have done it anyway. They tried to back in 2003. We gave them a stellar package with the MOU and they chose to throw it away and now it's costing them, service failures, daily JA attempts, etc. I wish we could have avoided having a separate FQS force from the beginning as well, but that is impossible. Don't channel your anger at our union. We have the best union in the industry probably because we have a common enemy which presents its true colors all too well.
