Just talked to a current MD11 pilot. He told me there will supposedly be 11 MD11 slots all for ANC in the 9/12 class.
Hey de727ups,
Do you have any info on ONT crashpads or places to stay? Does any know if new hires are base locked? I read the contract that said probation pilots will not be awarded a vacancy unless the company need it (something like that).

Don't know anything about crashpads. Our crew hotel is the Ayers Suites by Ontario Mills mall. Great hotel, nice staff, $85 a night with tax. The Red Roof Inn, by the airport, is about as cheap as it gets. It's $60 a night with tax. To me, the Ayers Suites is worth the extra money, but I'm a Capt.
Sorry I can't answer any of your other questions.

Uh, what about all the new FEs which will be needed? I would say new hires would have an equal chance getting the panel and thus would have to be SDF based. To the uninformed ANC will only have the 747-400 and MD-11 and neither of those airplanes has an engineer. We still have 747 classics, DC-8s and 727s that need an FE and they are all based in SDF. I think it is more probable for an FE to have to take an upgrade to ANC a year or so after being hired. FEs are paid as FOs until the point that they decline an upgrade to the first available right seat.

I don't know about UPS's ANC base, but the crew base for FedEx Express in ANC is a mid seniority base. There, in the summer months, reserve goes very senior and so the junior guys actually: 1) can't hold reserve; and 2) get basically the same trips that the senior pilots enjoy.

Answer: The retention bonus plan will be published by the Company
next week. The Company determined today it will offer retention
bonuses to a minimum of 38 crewmembers. Terms of the retention
bonus are outlined in the letter of agreement attached to the
new contract.
