Default Industry leaders? UPS raising the bar?

If you talk to some of our pilots, you'd think we just took paycuts.

Well, since I'm already at the top of the payscale, the awesome 17% pay raise I'm getting is being eroded by the passage of time since my last COLA raise (June 2003) of 1.5% every 18 months (which wasn't keeping up ), and my additional medical expense in the new contract, I'm actually realizing an awesome 3.47% immediately, then no pay raise for the next two years.

I guess I'm lucky we aren't filing for bankruptcy....

Not that I'm complaining about the money, somehow I'll get by with the $275k I'll make next year. What irks me is all of the international scheduling rules we GAVE away. What are we going to negotiate with next time? There's nothing left to give away.

That's what Delta Triple 7 Captains were pulling down before Sept. 11.

I heard that scheduling was a gain for you guys, but I guess not?

There were many gains. Of course it's not very cool to actually admit that. It's much cooler to ***** and whine about how we got screwed...at 275K a year...

Pilots moaning about pay? That's got to be a first

I hope the UPS pilots don't become the arrogant B's that Delta black jackets were during all their years at the top of the food chain.

It's hard to be arrogant at Huntsville at 1 in the morning.

They were making that kind of dough for a lot less work than we will have to! 275 is NOT our pay guarantee by any stretch!!

OK notadog, I'll bite....

I AM NOT *****ing and whining. Although it's easy for you to characterize my post, I challenge you that for each scheduling improvement you could show me in the international arena (where all of our future growth will be), I'll show you two items we gave away.

Yeah, $223/hour for this new contract sounds like a lot of money, you know why? Because it is! However, as a top scale Captain, for the five years before 9/11 I was making $220/hour LESS than other wide body Captains working for pax airlines that never made as much profit in two years than we did in one quarter.

So now after paying my dues for 16 years, I'm finally making some money? And you're castigating me for this fact? Get a grip. I've earned every cent, and then some.
