Yes, that concerns me. I guess you could you be extended into days off up to 48/96 hrs without any recourse. I guess if you're stuck with a broke jet in SYR they could extend you beyond 48 hrs.

Here is the referenced section, sounds like this could be abused by schedules?? I don't believe this was codified in the previous agreement, but was considered taboo by skeds. I don't see any punitive reason for schedules to not abuse this section. IE Additional days added would be dropped from subsequent trips to protect days off. What would prevent trips from being added onto the back end of a trip when the company is very lean in a seat? Note that this section was added to the TA........

8. If a pilot’s trip is extended into time originally scheduled free from duty at base, such extension shall be limited to the following, unless the pilot consents to a longer extension:
a. the Company may extend a pilot:
i. on a domestic trip up to 48 hours into time previously scheduled free from duty at base; or
ii. on an international trip up to 96 hours into time previously scheduled free from duty at base.
b. maintenance or weather disruptions particular to the pilot’s specific flight shall, but only to that limited extent, provide the Company with the ability to exceed the 48/96 hour limit without the pilot’s consent.

Default duty extension

Fedex guys...

Do you guys have anything like late arrival pay? If you're late back to base from a trip more than 4 hrs, the company is penalized starting at 125% progressively up to I believe 400% if it's excessive.

Wondering,

I guess that reading the TA isn't enough... you also have to read the current contract.

This LIMITS the company to 48/96 hour extensions unless the pilot agrees to a longer extension. Currently there is no such limitation. As one very senior Capt noted: "Once you block out they can extend you to age 60." They DO have to pay you for it, tho

Default What once was taboo...

You are correct regarding the current contract, but what should be noted is that it is now codified and schedules will use that limit and use it alot: Very similar to the floating RDAY. It's unfortunate that there is no real 'penalty' assessed to the company.

There is a penalty, they pay DFT. Not saying that I like it. I've been extended twice in my 10.5 yrs and both were on RSV assigned trips - 4 days in June '01 with a DH out of ANC (remember that month) and 1 day last month even after a soft R day was moved (due to an eastbound NWA DH diverting from 50 West to BOS for maint). I see it as a limit rather than a green light!

Default Limit

I must say again that it's not a limit for the company but more of a goal for them. Look at the base replacement policy in the current contract and in the TA (remains unchanged). It's another example of a level of flexibility given to the company and a quality of life/seniority problem for us. Bottom line: if they can take away days off from us when they need them them we need to get them back--forget about the money. You may, at some point, have your child's wedding to attend and you won't be able to make it because you're stuck in Peoria.

I think the point is that the company could extend you indefinetly without your permission before and would only have to pay you draft or 200%. Now, if they extend you more than 48 hours, they have to get your agreement.

I agree 100%. I've been extended before and there is no limit. Now there will be. Stop making such a big issue about stuff you don't seem to be familiar with. Did you notice mach84 and oilpressure joined about the same time and each sound exactly alike? Minor issues that are distorted to make them sound terrible. Are you a FedEx pilot? Do you even know what's in the current contract? Have you read the current contract?
