The TA and the Flex

The answer is about 75.2 assuming an R-day value at 4.7 hours. And that's for 12 days off. You are absolutely correct that a line pilot does not get 6 full hours per day, and that's why we were trying as a union to address what a day of work should be. But for each 24 hours away, we were always at 6 hours.

Redeye: I think the issue is that whatever their pay only line is worth, when they work off site they used to get credit for 6 hours. Thus if they had a 72 hour line they only had to work 12 days if they went offsite. Now they will have to work 15 days offsite in order to get that same 72 hour BLG.
Many were working 15 days before, they were just getting those 3 "extra" days at draft.
It is a hit for them if they work offsite, not an issue in base or on fly days. I can understand why they might be a bit dissappointed in that area of the TA.
V1VR please correct me if I am wrong.

Yessir, that's the issue. Anyway, I'm not griping, because it was perhaps too good a deal. And like I said, I won't be a one issue voter, so I'm in favor of the TA.
However, the rift between the training department and the crewforce needs to be fixed. The instructors need to fly more and the flight crews need to understand that there is more to working in the training department than is seen by them.
And let's not let the divide and conquer strategy ever work again.

V1 I asked this before from someone else but it was never answered.
Excuse my lack of knowledge of section 11 as it pertains to FLEX's
When you work in the Training dept, for a month's schedule not on the line, You get paid "Pay Only" line value for a line you bid but do not have to fly. In other words your awarded PAY ONLY line is line xyz and it's credit value is 76:30 (4 week month) and it had 13 days off.
So how do you not get paid 6 hours per day if let's say you:
Day 1 DH MEM to DFW and get a 12 hour layover,
...
Day 8 DH back to MEM
Now you get 5 days off (involate days) and repeat the above schedule.
for 8 more days.
Day 9 DH MEM to DFW and get a 12 hour layover,
...
Day 16 DH back to MEM
You are getting paid 76:30 in your pay only line......??
You are getting $800-1000 Flex override......??.
What would you get paid with the above scenario under todays rules?
I am just curious as to what the problem is since I do not work under section 11 and am a little confused.
