A challenge to ALPA

Yep, you're one of the guilty parties....No one could possibly want to allow these programs to continue when they only hurt the "play by the rules" average joe crewmember.

Yep, you're one of those guys who expects cherry trips to be waiting for them in open time during the day hub turn.

"Folks are simply trying to improve their schedules and the quality of their lives"
I, unlike you and fr8dog11, think is is wrong for a few crew members to "CHEAT" their way to the front of the open time line at the expense of ....guess what, "OTHER junior crewmembers". I was simply trying to get the union to lead from the front of an issue that affects all of us ( the ever harder sign in process) instead of staying quiet on an issue that affects the junior guys a lot more than it does me. I don't need to claw my way thru open time to improve my schedule, I earned the right to pick my schedule thru years of being just where you are. Hopefully some day you will be as lucky.

I too think the union should lead us thru this but I don't think they should fall prey to management mischaracterization of the issue and give up our rights to first come/first served open time. They should push management to do what they should be doing without our input.
The simple, but expensive, fix is to upgrade the network and take those goofy codes off. That's the only way to get the codes taken off despite what your management sources promise.
The right course of action is not the easiest and the track record when that is the case is not good. Just look at accepted fares and 4a2b.
I still remember when "O" said he was looking into the accepted fare issue and would make it right. That initiative quietly slipped away. Problem still exists. Don't tell me you buy management's rhetoric on 4a2b implementation. I don't know anyone who was happy with that.
Management wants a return to simpler times when we connected with 64k modems and only 300 of us bothered to look at open time. Anything more is considered pilot misbehavior.

This is simply an issue of several crewmembers utilizing the system we have, to CHEAT his fellow crewmembers by subverting the system in place for his own use, and screw the guys affected. This isn't managements fault, who I will readily hold accountable when due, but blaming the company for a few guys hijacking a program that is one of the better around in the industry and blame the company for not expanding the system to accommodate this subversion goes beyond logic.....
Could it be you are one of the guys involved in this....there is no other way to explain absolving those using this system at the expense of their fellow crewmembers.

You can't fool me. You don't always blame the company when it's due. You only blame them for bad things that affect YOU. Other issues don't even show up on your radar. That's not unusual, it's human nature. Would be nice if you would admit it though.
It is beyond logic that you think we have one of the best systems in the industry. Guys like you have no idea how VIPS works (under the hood), how networks are upgraded or even appreciate how old VIPS is.
I've avoided the bait of your insult concerning bot usage. I know I have just as good a shot as a bot when I sit down and check open time. If I hit the submit key too fast I get "your request has been submitted". I have to wait for the trade submitted page. You can't avoid that. I have confidence that those "checking" it while flying will now be dealt with. I thought they were before. Guess they're serious this time. Unless that isn't the issue at all, which is my bet.
I could go on but your lack of knowledge of the subject is painfully apparent. You say there is only on possible conclusion? Get real. Everything we do on VIPS is visible to the administrator of the network. I'm sure the bad actors will be dealt with if the sky is really falling.

Hijacking the program? You mean injecting code into VIPS? Whoever is doing that will get a visit from the Feds.

I was talking to a high level mgt person the other night about the security to get on line with the company. He said the problem isn't the individual wanting to access his sign in, but the BOT people who are hitting the site several thousand times an hour trying to beat the open time system.
My question for the people on this site is the same I asked him...."Why don't you HAMMER those guys and leave the other 90+% alone so we can have a rational sign in system." My question to this Board and ALPA is why don't they team with the company to put an end to this type of ********** the system and work with the company to end these guys permanently with harsh penalties so the vast majority of us can get back to a less Fort Knox security system.
WHERE DO YOU STAND?
