The process needs to be fixed for sure.

But since this is what we have now we have to know how it works for best results.

Fact is that if we would have hung tough, they would have worked in an SJU layover or a crew change and deadhead home. We didn't, the union pulled the dispute, and we have that crappy trip on the books today.

This is how our pairings start getting real bad..... There is a consequence for the rest of us when our fellow pilots fly these trips....
I was assigned that trip off reserve during or slightly after the disputed period and I recall everyone on the aircraft being asleep at one point. Terrible pairing. Point well taken. Had we done it right, and not flown it for 3 months, what was to stop the powers that be from saying "shut up and fly it." The language needs to be airtight the next go round.

The "What's in it for me crowd is everywhere". At UPS we have a Capt that recently moved to Hawaii. I guess between that and the "new" wife (and paying off the old one) it was just too expensive. The IPA has been AWESOME at making these guys realize exactly what they are doing (when Open time/JA's are accepted) and the basics of how unions work. Well needless to say this guy got about 75 hours of pay for about 5 days of work by accepting a "Draft/JA" as an FO.

Some people will NEVER get it. It's just this once. It's too much money........What ever!!!

Yikes! I have NEVER flown a disputed pairing ("If" I did it was assigned on Reserve?) and I have NEVER crossed a picket line. I have to assume by your derogatory posting that you have (or at least that's OK with you!*?).

I accept your apology

MM might be famous but not for anything to do with this thread. Pony up some facts or back down.

I believe the reference is to MM denying a training swap because there was nothing in it for him.

I think that pretty clearly puts him in the "what's in it for me" camp.

As Pipe has mentioned, while MM may not have crossed a picket line or flown a DP, he has certainly made himself famous as a "What's in it for me" type of guy. Along with no scabbing or DP flying, I have never turned down a request to approve a training swap, even when it didn't benefit me. Mark has told the world that he has. Do you need a thread link, AA?

I am not necessarily a fan of MM and certainly not of his choice to block a swap, but there is a difference between that and flying a dp.

There is a tremendous difference between either of those and being a scab.

I am not condoning or trying to excuse any of those actions, and deplore all of them to varying degrees.

But lets not get carried away with the character assassinations please.

Would you let a non-member jump in front of you or would you block the swap? Not saying that's the case but without knowing the circumstances, it's hard to pass judgement on why he did it. Maybe he had a reason. Or, maybe he was just being a Richard Cranium. I guess he knows.

BTW, ANC #96/24 Jun is back in open time.
