Yes I know that. All of the manuals, MEL/CDL and such behind the FO are already on the EFBs. Just not authorized reference materials there, or so I've been led to believe. So they haven't gotten the FAA approval to use the EFB copies and still pay to print, distribute and post paper manuals (on the MD, anyway...).

Or perhaps I missed the official approval via Ru___Gram or Comm Update, both unofficial sources. But we seem to have managers that love to legislate and guide via unofficial communications rather than official FCIFs that can be used to regulate or change approved options.

Just my opinion....

Read MD-11/10 CFM pages 2-3-0-2 and 2-3-0-3

and

FOM (version 47) page 4-1 paragraph 4.04

bottom line: a paper QRH is always required, and for those aircraft using paper normal checklists, a paper normal checklist is always required - everything else can be electronic and on the EFB

If they are going to continue to pass along procedures using Comm updates and emails, then they need to put all of them on the EFB also.

You are kidding right???

How many "procedure" changes have been published by comm update or email? Maybe if you read the FOM, FARs and aircraft manuals you would find all of these "procedures" are actually published as they should be.

Comm updates and emails are only to remind you of or clarify the changes made to official publications. Anything else is only "technique" and not binding!

You must not fly the 777.

Thanks for providing exact references for my viewpoint. You must be quite the guy when it's time to play "did ya know....." right?

No - just a line pilot and I stand by my statement.

I have not found any "procedure" disseminated by comm update or email - only clarifications of "procedure" that are in the manuals. If you want to prove me wrong - show an example!

When its not a written procedure but is expected ALL the time it's called a "Techcedure."

It's not a PROcedure.

Still waiting on some examples of "procedure" being disseminated by comm update or email - or is it that there aren't any?
