They had me doubting it, well, after reading the disclaimer, it still does.

Oh, they'll find them
Do they have 90 757's picked out?? no. I'd guess they have a small fleet purchase already planned, than they will go into the marketplace and pick them up in small quantities, 2 to ten at a time, more if some airline goes TU.
I think this (for sure) ends the mystery about 757 vs 737 that was the main question up till now. The how many and which airframes is TBD.

Right after 9/11 Boeing offered The Fed 75s for 17 million a copy and were turned down. Could have had 152 new for the price of 90 used plus conversion costs. What were they thinking?
p.s. This came from the mouth of a Boeing salesperson. I've always said, this place makes money in spite of itself.

That is very similar to what JL told me on a jumpseat to ORF in 02. They were just trying to keep the production line open.
How nice would a block of brand new 75s have been?
I think we missed the boat on that one.

That's an interesting question to ponder. How many 727 Capt's will make a lateral move for the same money?
Furthermore, how many senior W/B f/o's will move to the 757 when W/B capt is just around the corner?
757 is the junior jet at UPS for a reason...2 pilots, 2 engines, lots of gas, quick turns. All that means 3 legs a night...NO PROBLEM!
IMHO you will see 4.5 year crewmembers getting 757 Capt with a few "type rating collectors" from the senior ranks chasing it too.

Mawk90...
On the contrary, 757/767, particularly domestic, is not the most junior, it is the most senior for the left seat. I wish that people would bid off and go to the "easier" flying on other fleets/intl but they won't go.

I am only passing along info from my bud at UPS. He says that the 727 is the senior jet due to the fact that you can bid reserve and never fly...followed by 747/DC8 then Bus, then 757.
Perhaps it was only his opinion....oh well, still can't argue with the other stuff in my post about lateral or downbidding.
